Most disgusting breakfast

I can say the same about wheatbix. I wouldn't even feed it to a stray dog

Huh, you smoking some strong tik... Weet Bix is what I have daily for the last 30 years. It tastes perfectly fine, but some do say it resembles old wardrobe...

A great product. Tasty if you know the tricks as well.
  1. crumble roughly
  2. Add golden brown sugar
  3. Add butter
  4. Melt in microwave for a minute
  5. Add cold milk... Cold mofo. Cold.
  6. (optional) Exchange plain milk for cold chocolate Nesquick.

Geez, haven’t had polony in years. That used to be a staple for me way back when.

I recall it used to be finer and smoother. And better tasting. A long time ago at least. Last time I had it, it was gritty AF and tasted like dog food. Have hardly had it for the last 15 years, but tasted it again a few years ago... Never again.

I think they've started using the same crap in Russian sausages. So there it's sort of in reverse again. Something that should have more chunks is now mushy, but with that same annoying grit. Most store brand Russians these days are almost indistinguishable from polony. Whenever I find some supermarket selling that crap, I never buy it again. Their loss.

It must be cartilage that they're grinding in. For that texture. Or maybe even bone. Mostly I think the trend is due to the fact that SA has so many people who may never have known the products before. Who think it's perfectly normal. So they'll probably continue making money from this filth. They're definitely losing the market of people who know what it should taste like though. It's easy to fixate on food price these days, but food quality has deteriorated hellishly.

True, I actually enjoyed Garlic Polony with mustard as a kid.

Absolutely. Russians used to use very coarse meat, closer to Portuguese Chorizo or even Brazilian sausage. But even with chorizo these days one has to be careful. And "Econo-Russians" are basically pink sludge filled thin polonies, I get heartburn just looking at them.

Indeed.

You can tell what is truly disgusting by feeding it to kids.

Give a kid scrambled eggs for brekkie, chicken nuggets for lunch and fish fingers for dinner.
Then the next day give them sardines on toast for brekkie, salmon bagels for lunch, and sushi for dinner.

One is definitely hell and you will know which one because the plates will be nearly untouched.

Fish for breakfast? You should ban yourself from the forum.
Freshly caught Bass on toast with butter, salt and lemon juice. Try it thank me later when you're tongue is hanging out wanting more...but it's all finished.

Used to eat this a lot when family had dams with Bass in. Best breakfast ever

Snoek pate on sourdough toast with butter is also delicious.

For everyone here that eats canned fish, do u eat fresh fish ?
Asking because I am used to eating fresh fish but
I tried canned fish just once in my life, tasted like the fresh fish was left out in the sun to rot for a week.
Now even the sight of it at the shops makes me nauseous.
Also donu eat straight out of the can or do u cook it with additional seasoning?

Think of them as totally different products. Canned salmon tastes nothing like fresh salmon. You'd never fry up fresh salmon with tomato sauce and onions, but it works fine for canned.

The Lucky Star sardines in the flat tins are terrible because they are not South African sardines.
They bring in sardines from overseas and repackage it. Maybe not all the time, but when there are no local sardines, this is what they use.

The only local sardines worth eating in my opinion are these >
