Most kickass router?

From some research and some recommendations i am getting the Billion 7402GX. It is waiting for me at the pc store i will pick it up tomorrow!! Very keen to see what it can do!

BTW - I managed to install the USB shareport utility. Just downloaded it from the US website. Works like a dream for printer - I'm sure it will work for my external HDD too. Just goes to show that the DLink guys don't always know what they're talking about.

Question: my laptop keeps on disconnecting with the dlink wireless connection at home, but has no problem with the wifi connection at work. My wife's laptop is rock solid - never drops and the range is huge - appr. 10m through about 4 walls and with the cordless phone and microwave running :-) Only difference I can see is the different wireless card in her machine, but still doesn't explain why my laptop is okay at work. I've copied her settings and updated the drivers for my card, but to no avail. Any ideas?

yo, did you install the latest firmware to get the usb working?

for the wireless, go to your advanced wireless settings and set the signal to 20mhz, fiddle with some of the other settings, some of the features are too new for older or lower grade network cards....
 
So i have gotten the 7402GX Router and i can't seem to find the setting to enable PPPOE passthrough.

The firmware version is 5.53.s4 i see on the support site that there is a newer version ( 5.53s.5)

It is very possible that i am missing something but i would appreciate if someone would be able to help with getting this setup into half-bridge mode.

Yes updated firmware to get usb working.

Swopped laptops @ work. This one connects without hassles.
 
If I order the D LINK 655 from Amazon/WantitAll will I have a problem with the power supply

You are right but Wantitall.co.za can source goods from the USA and they charge you for getting them.
Best router: Belkin N+, the only cons are the USB port that is slow and not having the provision for wall hanging. Plus it boosts G spec range.
Worst router: Belkin N1, that thing is just too buggy.
 
I have endless problems with my D-Link DIR-655 Rev A5 - 1.30WW. Where do I find the newest firmware and shareport utility for this SA branded router. The latest Firmware for WW range, 1.30WW it comes with does not see the External HDD (My Book Elite) The software on the CD seems quite old and does not have a x64 version. I have tried the Shareport 3 software from (US) download site, but that did not work either. The only time I was able to see my USB drive was when I loaded the NA firmware, but I don't know if that is ideal, because I can't pick up the WiFi even just from the room next door. I think I'm taking this back. The SA website concerning support sucks!! Takes you to a site in Taiwan where they have a jumble of files that just not make sense... I give up, unless you guys can help me in the right direction.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
