To be fair to MyBB: I would rather them give us the info without detail analysis than not at all. I am sure rpm and friends would love too, but it obviously costs money to investigate a story.
You give your criticism civilised enough, but some of the flaming they receive in the forums are quite undeserved.

Referencing a third party's stats is not the problem; there are many site's that successfully repopulate 3rd party content.

The key problem IMO with many of these MyBB articles is that it presents only an opinion (...and often only in the header); for example this article's opinion of what the stats depict is sadly unsupported by any arguable fact or further substantiation -- and therein lies the pity; as...

...we all know how easy baseless opinions are derived, drive-by thread shootings can be conducted, ... MyBB is littered many such artisans;

With that in mind, surely it's not unreasonable to expect a little more level headed effort from the MyBB staff.

Point taken. MyBB has a very successful business model if we go by regular web stats. No reason why the cannot monetize it more effectively and provide content of more substance.
