Most reliable local Android smartphone?

Young, in this instance, is not hipster.

Read my posts. I am not prepared to yet again go through Apple Torment. Nor do I want to pass through the Hell of Gates.

It seems the phone choice is more so influenced by the level of appearance youd be keeping up than functionality

Case in point.

I couldnt care what who thinks. I dont need a phone that will affect my ability to meet lots of young people...

Its there as a tool to communicate.

you are looking for a reliable phone that you can also flash at the bar to point out your wealth? Cool factor? Whatever?

Rather get a cool watch... or a ferrari key.

If you can read what wa swritten and not what you THINK is wriiten, you will see that RELIABILITY is what this is about, not a #$#$%^^%# Ferrari key!! Are you mad??

A phone is a PHONE and not a THEME PARK!!

It HAS to be Android because a) Apple is hipster junk and b) Nokia is irrelevant by its own Microsoft-induced quirks, But it needs to be at least as RELIABLE (enduring, longlasting, eternal) as a Nokia would have been.

Why is the S5 regarded as "unreliable"?

In the stores, the "sales consultants" know the fun & games side of phones, but have no idea of its sysstem specifications, how to use it for WORK (they never have done a sticth of real work themselves) and all they sell you is fashion & hype.

Listening to advice from a somewhat more evolved species, the university student studing IT, some facts start emanating. Local businessfolks around me drive Ferrari, McClaren and "other irrelevant brands", they either have Blackberries or iPhones. None of them have any idea of what the phone can do, as long is at is "COOL." So, their opinion also doesn't matter.

What do REAL productive businessmen use - engineers, architects, surveyors, doctors, lawyers, farmers, etc?

What top end Android smartphone can be compared with Lumia 1520 and iPhone 5S?

Reliable in terms of hardware build quality

Reliable in terms of signal quality

Reliable in terms of software stability

Comment from a young adult who meets lots of other young ones is that he will never buy a Samsung S5 or K Zoom, as there are 'unreliable'.

What is truth and what is biased perception?

The truth is Samsung do run a modified version of Android, Eg, new Androids use on screen keys, on the Galaxy s5 you still see physical keys, even the layout of certain apps is different, eg the Samsung keys give you (back, home, long press for switching between open apps, options, long press for search, ) with normal android you only have (back, home, switch between open apps ) there are even modifications to the notification tray, such as scroll system toogles such as wifi, even with the option to edit, normal Android does not have all that. It is these modifications or changes that one could argue make Samsung prone to bugs especially with 3rd party apps you download from Google Play .

Ive owned an S2 , after 2 years, tons of issues but great ease of use, hence the extra shortcuts mentioned above. But the worst about the Samsung galaxies is the SAMOLED display's, you will encounter colour burnins, ghosting over time. Say 2 years, you will see ghosting on a white screen.

You want quality such as a well built, solid device thats as hard as a rock when you squeeze it? opt for Sony. My advice, Go for something as close to pure Android as possible, (no off screen keys, no fancy user interface or animations ) why Sony, very close to pure Android, brilliant build quality that is equal to the iPhone 5S. (as long as you don't buy the cheapest Sony Xperia you can find, don't get anything cheaper than the Xperia m. (i got one prepaid and its brilliant)

I should note that the camera isn't so great, but reliability, stability, consistency and the best build quality possible is all there. Brilliant battery life too.

Thanks a million, K-4, I have learnt from what you have said and also, your advice corresponds with what I am comfortable with. :)

Sorry i forgot to mention, with Sony you can't move apps to the SD card so if you are going to download a lot of big fancy games that take more than 50MBs each, even up to 1.5GB id recommend going for the Xperia Z or Z2 as both have 16GB internal storage instead of the 4GB i have on my Xperia m, of which only about 1GB is left for me to use after you take into account the space that Android and the pre installed apps use.

It should be noted that Android app developers often blame bugs and issues on the SD card installation, Sony block this feature/option which helps if you don't install tons of massive games or apps. So again, another plus if reliability / stability / consultancy are all you care about. But you can still store all your music, images, videos and photos on the SD card.

But bare in mind that the Sony Xperia Z or Z2s cameras are not that great when comparing to the Nokia Lumia 1020, Samsung galaxy S5 or LG G3 but its camera is undoubtedly much better than the iPhone 5S, which says alot.

Also you may have difficulty finding accessories for the cheaper Xperias, i had to order a phone protector / case / cover from amazon.

By the way, HTC is also terrible when it comes to modifying and changing Android, much worse than Samsung. Android should run as it was made by Google to run.
