Most solar shops are just a bit less clueless

Most solar shops in my opinion are just guys that had the money and realised this is a good business opportunity

Now yes they do encounter problems because they deal with this every day so they are learning and getting better

But based on my experience of talking to people in these stores they are still clueless

The end-user is paying for their school fees

The bottom line for me is if you want to install solar read up as if you wanna do it yourself then you can make sure you don't get ****ed over in an edge case that nobody thought about or dealt with already


Yes I do think the guys doing the actual install may be a little bit more knowledgeable than the guy flogging you the ****

I'm thinking thus if at least the office staff knows what they're talking about the chances that the installer will know is better

Edit : have not had one encounter where i did not think who is the specialist here me or you

When i go into these stores it is when i move onto a phase ie buying items for that phase

ie i am onto the solar phase now

And i try and use those visits as a time to test my understanding and clear up any false notions i may have formed

We are talking to the specialists why not pick their brains

Only to leave and think you are better of just to learn from other peoples experiences on forums solving installer problems or trying to do it themselves since they simply can't afford the instalation fee stretching for the items is hard enough already

Even if you get mixed info and opinions on the forum at least they bring up the points you forgot to read up on if the point is in contention

So you may come up with another opinion , they say there are just as many opinions as there are people in the world

The forum has really been a plus for me , sure you get a bit of bickering i do it too

But in the end net positive
