Hi

Has anyone tried these accupressure bands? What brand and do they work?

I honestly don't know if those things would work. I swear by Avomine ... cheap as dirt, incredibly fast-acting, and you can just get on with your life (although it might make you a bit spaced out lol).

Have used Sturgeron
Wonder what the difference is?

Are they once off tabs or constant consumption (chronic)?

They're just placebos, so results vary

Um, I only ever used Avomine before short day-trips ... you're recommended to take one a few hours before travelling, but based on experience I found that taking one would kick into effect within half an hour (useful if you're suddenly thrown into a bus at short notice) and it would work for five hours or more.

I've used some of the other sickness tablets before and they seriously never worked for me. Found Avomine, and it was like day and night ... I'd pop one of those, and I'd be eating burgers and chatting up a storm on the bus, rather than sweating and trying to ignore all the smells around me.

That said I'm happy to say I managed to wean myself off Avomine ... after getting a line of work that required a lot of flying and car travelling, my brain finally adjusted and I can now handle most travelling without any tablets. The problem with Avomine is it wipes you out after the trip, so you feel tired and just need to go to sleep. You're also not much fun chatting to during the trip, although in your mind you don't notice a difference (i.e. it doesn't make you feel drowsy - that's all that mattered to me).

I recommend you try it. It was like R20 for a whole box of the tablets last time I tried, and all you need is one a day. Seriously you've got nothing to lose.

Thanks, I suffer terrible motion sickness. :( And having a 7 hour drive in Botswana :-O

Ouch, I feel your pain. It wouldn't hurt to take two different kinds of tablets, right? Try the first one before you leave, and if doesn't help you can switch to the other one an hour into the trip.

You'll have a second chance at six hours of comfort, rather than six hours regretting buying the wrong medication. Trust me, I've been there before.

Motion sickness is the pits. I find it worse in case that have air frwshner
