Motivation (again)

I think you're right.

To me there's no real reason to do anything really. It's like, for example, I want to get in shape and I know how (buddies of mine are personal trainers/been to several + have done the whole thing before), but when I consider actually doing it, I'm like... "meh, whatever"

I guess it stems from my bi-polar schitzo (I'm sure others will be able to remember more names they called me) stuff.

*cough* attention whore *cough* :p

What you need is Jesus. Except you are turning further away from him by seeking to become Jewish. The Devil's hand is strong at play within you, so strong that if there was a video of it, it would be top rated on the xxnx fisting section.

Which ones?

The following ones helped me. They didn't contradict each other at all as they deal with very different domains of knowledge:

No Excuses! The Power of Positive Thinking by Brian Tracy
Your Brain at Work by David Rock
I started on The Millionaire Next Door but found it didn't really take me, maybe I'll come back to it later. It seems to have one idea and play it over and over again. No Excuses is very universal, and Your Brain at Work is fascinating and I'm getting a lot of insights into the areas where I stumble in my work.

Have you tried weed? It doesn't help motivation but your lack of motivation won't bother you as much as it does now. You will be motivated to eat more though .

lol, yea I did actually and it does help, especially for better sleep hey. But ever since I moved back to JHB I don't have a hookup. So sleep sucks which means I don't produce more serotonin which means I get depressed easier

I don't think that's a mental disorder :p

I'm choosing to ignore this comment and take it you were trying to be funny

I've found myself in this same boat for the last few years.

You need something to drive you in life. (No, not a car ) - without drive and an end goal, forget it.

I know it's harsh - however, when I am out in the world and I see people who look like they're not coping with life - I say to myself "Do not let yourself get to that level"

I'm going to take a look at those two books mentioned in this thread for extra motivation. :)

Lastly: I start my "dream job" next month - given it's a career change and I am new to the industry in that sense, it's exciting and encouraging to push myself further.

How do you motivate your dog or your child?
You set the parameters, lay the rules and set the goals.
End of story.

What you need buddy, is some clear goals of where you wanna go and what you wanna do.

You can't finish if you don't start.
