Hi guys

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on this phone.

I want to know if there are MyBB members who have purchased this phone through Orange Shop?

What is your experience with the phone? Most reviewers are complaining about the camera, but since I am happy with my 2 year old S3 camera, I believe this should be fine for the odd photo?

This seems like a nice phone. Can't believe no one has one.

It is a very nice phone. Many reviewers have called it the best all round android phone of the year alongside the Note 4 and One M8. I might be getting one myself.

The camera also isnt as bad as what some make it seem. Have a look at the test shots and judge for yourself. Its just a bit hit and miss sometimes like many other smarthphone cameras.

If this was available locally, I'd buy a used one... Don't want to fork out so much cash on a phone when I struggle with CUD :(

I will look into getting one in the new year. I really like this phone. My second alternative is a Oneplus One, but they might be unveilling a new phone in the not-to-distant future.

I considered picking one up ,but when I considered the price orange had it for and what it would cost me to get the nexus 6 which has better specs while still keeping the overall look of the moto X (2014) I opted for the Nexus 6 .
That being said I did get to play around with a 2014 Moto X and it is a nice phone and feels really premium especially the one I handled which had a bamboo back cover .

The Nexus 6 is just so big. Something like the Motorola Moto Maxx (Droid Turbo in the US) has the same specs as a Nexus 6 but in a smaller form factor. It's just unfortunate that it is extremely ugly with its kevlar body. If they had it in the same finish as the Moto X I would definitely get it.

I wouldn’t mind one but the G3 looks like a better buy.

Coming from the Note 3 I did not find it so big (the nexus 6) , I honestly prefer the larger screens and battled a little when I had an S5 as my personal phone because I was always coming off using my Note 3 which was my work device.

The form factor of the Nexus 6 makes it a really comfortable fit in hand ,well that's what I found anyway . I did try a note 4 and I definitely feel the nexus 6 feels more comfy in hand ,but that is my personal experience . It is a pity there are no stores in SA that have the Nexus 6 on display because that is ultimately the best way to gauge the size in hand . I do think that some of the reviews online have blown the whole size thing way out of proportion ,yes it is big but in reality and in hand it is on par with the Note 4 in my personal experience after having had both phones in hand.

It does look good. The biggest thing for me is that Motorola runs stock android with quick updates. I don't know if LG can do the same.

I have a Samsung S3 and waiting for updates irritates me a lot.

I am sure that the small difference in size between the Note 4 and the Nexus 6 is negligible. If I were to consider getting the Nexus 6, what is the easiest way to do this, since the Orange store lists it as pre-order?

It is a great phone. But 1): It's not available through SA networks so very few people will buy it.
2) One of the best reasons for buying it, the most awesomest thing ever done by a phone manufacturer, is only available in the US. I'm talking of course about Moto Maker.

Mine would have been navy blue, with lime yellow trim, And my name engraved on the back...

Or maybe a nice, real ebony back would be better. Sadly we can only dream about stuff like that.

The difference is, the Note 4 actually makes proper use of its huge screen, the Nexus is just like any normal phone but passed through a copier at 120% size. No multi-window whatsoever completely negates the advantages of a nice big display.

This is true , but having said that I hardly ever used the multi windows function on my Note 3 . Where I do use it is on my Note Tablet . After using my Nexus 6 now for a couple of days , I am more than happy to give up the Multi Window experience I had on the Note 3 for the added benefit of stock android . Just as a quick example I have noticed the huge difference in Ram being used by the Nexus vs the Note 3 . For example I can have a large amount of apps open and still have 2GB (+) Ram remaining on the Nexus 6 ,the performance on the Nexus 6 is just so dam fast and snappy no matter how many apps you have running etc . I compared the Note 3 to the Nexus 6 with the same amount of apps open etc and there was a huge difference in Ram being used (and the Note 3 had been reset to factory settings as I was giving it to my father in law) .

Don't get me wrong , I am a Samsung fan and I like what they do for the most part as they do make some of the very best devices , but the pure Android experience in my opinion and limited use so far has been a bit of an eye opener for me .

It's possible to get a Moto Makered X, by simply having them ship it to a mail forwarder's address and have them ship it to you.

Yeah and then pay them a huge amount, and SARS another huge amount. Your $500 phone will end up costing around R10k or something ridiculous.

This is what I thought. Making use of someone like MyUS (or other).

Are there actually any of those services that you can just pay, get your stuff and never have to deal with again? Because all the ones I've seen including MyUS are monthly subscription based which is quite pointless.

Yeah, Postbox Courier. A few of us have used them before, and they're quite efficient.
