MotoGP 2016

Marc should revert to the aggression of last year. He should have easily overtook Rossi had he started attacking as early as 12 laps to go.

He was struggling more on the tyres than Rossi...surprised he managed to make such a good race of it. Good ride from Marc today.

After being robbed of a classic three-way at Mugello, it was good to see Vale trump the Spaniards in their own backyard again.

Iannone needs to get his head out. Can't believe he even had the gall to try and shift blame to Lorenzo.

Problem is, he slips ups and valuable championship points goes a begging.

Last year MM crashed 5+1 times. After seven races last year he had crashed three times already. So far this season he is being clinical. 2 wins and four podiums with an unfortunate 13th place gets him to the top of the standings by 10 points.

And that's my point. I didn't watch MotoGP last year, but from the commentators comments I've gathered he was a bit overeager last year :)

Rossi was to good for him on the day.
Marquez tried but couldn't make it stick.

Classic Vale race..
Poor start, drops down the order, scythes through the field, and takes it all the way.
Old dog still dishing out lessons to the young, was awesome to watch.
After qualifying really thought MM would run away with it, but very happy to see Vale take it.

Rossi unsure if he can win Catalunya GP
A difficult day today," Rossi told reporters. "Yesterday was not so bad. Usually our bike is very competitive on this track, but with the modifying of the layout we suffered a lot - more than what we expected.

"The bigger problem for us is the medium tyre gives us quite good pace, like the other guys, but after seven or eight laps the tyre is very damaged and the tyre gives up.

"The hard tyre can resist for all the race, but unfortunately it's very tough to ride and it's impossible to go fast. We are a 1.5 seconds minimum slower.

Was he sandbagging on Saturday ?

What a race! I only caught it as a rebroadcast as I was on the golf course yesterday afternoon but even so, it was breath taking stuff! This world championship is going to go down to the wire. Think it's safe to say that while F1 has the glamour and the prestige, MotoGP has the heart racing excitement and sheer edge of the seat action (on half the amount of wheels!). I look forward now to MotoGP weekend than I do F1 weekend.

Regarding the race; it was so weird to see Lorenzo going backwards. He's normally one of the kinder riders to his tyres so to see him slipping down the field was very bizarre! Iannone is never going to find himself a top ride if he doesn't stop taking people out. He's thrown away great finishes (as well as deny other drivers results too!) and while he's got a ride at the factory Suzuki team next year, that's about as far as it will go.

Rossi and Marquez had an immense duel at Assen last year and it shows no signs of abating. Can't wait for that race in three weeks time! Roll on :)

Yeh I agree. F1 weekend is chilled, the bikes are so intense. I found myself sitting fists and teeth clenched more than once. All 3 races were great. Again.

I'm really impressed with Binder after he almost got taken out and still made it to 2nd. But he's biggest challenger I think is going to be Navaro, that boy can ride just as well. Going to be awesome, but I hope Binder pulls through in the end.

Ducati should have paid Casey Stoner a record salary to get on the GP16 because the current riders are wasting a good bike. On Saturdays they are doing fine ,on average just 0.5 seconds off pole then on Sunday they are out of sorts especially Dov. I don't think JLO pulled a Lewis Hamilton and he will struggle as he is not a complete rider and needs a perfect machine. If Stoner refused then hiring the best two Moto 2 riders at the moment would have been ideal.

I think his biggest challenger will be himself. If he has a couple of bad results or a couple of crashes, then we'll see how well he copes with himself under pressure.

Correct. The podium this weekend said a lot. Fighting for every point he could, and that's how you win championships.

Its never been an easy bike to ride and aside from a couple of wins between Capirossi and Bayliss, Stoner is the only one that has had success on it. Its always been a fast, powerful bike, but maximising it for a full race has been something only Stoner has been capable of.

Lorenzo could do it, though. You are talking about a guy that can go almost an entire race distance setting lap times within .5 seconds of each other. If he gets in to that zone there is no rider, not even Rossi or Marquez, that can match him. Look at what he done to them in France. 1'33s all race and only dipped in to 1'34 in the last 2/3 laps to ease it home. Of the three I also think, as much as I dislike him, that he is the more tempered rider. If it isn't working it isn't working and he won't force it (Catalunya).

My point exactly , he needs to be in the zone to win .Everything must be perfect for him to win. Example what happened to him on Sunday while his teammate was strong ? German GP 2015 also quickly comes to mind. The guy can't improvise.

It was strange seeing Lorenzo go backwards. Usually once he gets to the front, there's just no stopping him.
Was a great race though, just sad about the rider that passed away earlier the weekend. :(

Assen FP1 results, and some real surprises!! Hopefully a sign of things to come on Sunday.
