This was a norm at some point right?

I believe our tracks fell out of favor due to safety issues.

I would love to watch a race at Moto race at Phakisa

As far as I remember it had to do with guarantees that had to be paid to bring the race to SA. Same with F1.

Correct. Host nation has to pay a licensing fee and its usually the government that covers this.

Both Phakisa and Kyalami were up to FIM safety standards. SBK went to Kyalami and MotoGP visited Phakisa. Phakisa may require a little work to bring it back up to safety standards.
 
This is the most bleak news I've had today. Woke up this morning thinking that it's finally MotoGP week. All the hype surrounding pre-season testing, all the talk of this being the closest championship in years and all that happens is a massive bucket of ice water gets dumped on the enthusiasm. Meh...

Because our corrupt government are more concerned putting money into their own pockets. And because its not a black mans sport I guess.
 
The problem with Kyalami is the spectator stands. Specially down the main straight. Has this been improved or what?

Yip, very good opening season. You thinks its Darren's fault by coming in to hot or both riders faulty? The other rider did move to the left hand side just before the first corner. It was to late for Darren to react.

And that KTM in Moto2 looks very good.

I still have my original VHS copy of the 1991 500cc season, "Another Rainey Day". Have watched every race since. That Dutch TT 2018 is by far one of the best races I have seen. I am still playing catch up with IoM TT races (I missed an entire decade)...

Proposal made to hold two Grands Prix at Jerez

Andalusian government, Jerez council and Dorna Sports will make a proposal to the Spanish government to hold two MotoGP™ events in July

The Regional Government of Andalusia, the City Council of Jerez de la Frontera and Dorna Sports have agreed to make a proposal to the Spanish government that, if approved, would see the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto hold two MotoGP™ Grands Prix and one WorldSBK round at the end of July and the start of August.

After an electronic meeting this morning between Juan Antonio Marín, Vice President of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Mamen Sánchez Díaz, Mayor of Jerez de la Frontera; and Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports; the three parties have agreed to make a proposal to the Spanish government to organise two FIM MotoGP™ World Championship Grands Prix at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto on the weekends of the 19th and 26th of July, respectively.

Also proposed is a MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship round at the venue, to be held on the 2nd of August. Once authorisation from the Spanish government has been given, the three events will be proposed to the FIM for inclusion on their respective calendars. The first MotoGP™ event would be the Grand Prix of Spain, becoming the season opener for the MotoGP™ class, and the second would be the Grand Prix of Andalusia.

Jack Miller signs for the Ducati factory team from 2021 but interestingly, it doesn't say who he will replace. The smart money is on Petrucci leaving (probably in a straight swap back to the Pramac team from where he came).
