MotoGP 2023

Seems that the hot seat right now is the other Mooney VR46 spot alongside Bezzecchi as the talk is that Luca Marini is the odds on favourite to go to the factory Honda team. Tony Arbolino was mentioned as a possible replacement but his alarming dip in form this year has surely seen him slip behind...

... Fermin Aldeguer who is doing his own prospects no harm whatsoever with his recent hattrick of Moto2 wins. Not just the wins, but the dominant nature of them. He's solidly put even Pedro Acosta in the shade recently.

To me then it seems that their decision would potentially come down to the young Moto2 upstart, or someone who has cut his teeth this year in MotoGP who is now potentially showing his worth.

Tough choice, you'd say.

I saw Salucci (sp) said that doggie wasn’t in the mood they were looking for as they want a young upstart from Moto2…. Trying times. Who had the second Factory Yamaha ride again?

Alex Rins has it alongside Fabio Q for next year.

Mapping 8

That caused a bit of drama, but it turns out Gresini's 'Mapping 8' is not the same as the infamous factory Ducati 'Mapping 8'.

'Mapping 8' was to let Digia know there were 5 laps to go and it was time for him to launch an attack. That was their strategy for the race. They knew they had race-winning speed, so they just needed to keep in touch, look after the front tyre and then launch an attack in the closing 5 laps.

EDIT: I also saw them put out a pit board at the same time as the 'Mapping 8' message that read '0000', which I am guessing was another visual signal that it was go-time.

In all the drama on Sunday, it went unnoticed that Prima Pramac Ducati took the team championship title ahead of the factory Ducati outfit. They then have also wrapped up the Independent team title too. Not a bad season at all!

I didn't watch the Moto3 race, just seeing stuff about it on social media, and man what Leopard done to Sasaki was classless.

Yeah. It went over the line IMO. Three times he was hung well out to dry by the two riders in what was clearly a tactic to unsettle him. Unfortunately, the last time it happened was too late for him to mount a recovery ride.

Wonder if Diggia would be willing to go back to Moto2 next year with a view to possibly returning in 2025 should something open up. Would be wasted kicking his heels at home. Paoli Ciabatti has alluded to some possible wildcard entries should nothing materialise for him.

I see that Sasaki said he could accept it the first time Masia done it, but the second time and especially Fernandez standing him up mid-corner was too far.
If it was Brad who done that, it would have been double long lap penalty for every race till infinity... ( talking tongue-in-cheek humour )
But in all seriousness, LiquiMoly should have protested... That was dirty like a Hillbrow hooker on a Saturday morning...

Sasaki has been pure class over this. Some of his comments -

Masiá… one or two times he was quite aggressive at turn six. But that was ok. Suddenly his teammate came in the middle; we lost everything four laps from the end. He slowed down in the middle of the track, and the gap to the front group increased’.

I wanted to fight correctly with Masiá because if I had lost fairly, I would have understood and congratulated him. If everything had gone to Valencia, it would have been fine. But losing like this, I think I didn’t lose fairly. So, I can’t congratulate him because this is a shame, but it is what it is’.

And after posting this on his Instagram, Mick Doohan offered a message of support as well -

“I’m in shock, no penalty for the riding standards shown by the winning rider, and team. Racing should be hard, but fair, the winner did not win on talent, he knew he didn’t have your talent. Sensational ride Sasaki, you gave it all.” - Mick Doohan

A super entertaining free practice session. Lot of mind games. Could be very interesting if Pecco somehow doesn't make it into Q2.

He IS very strong charging up the grid though… let’s see goes it goes plus the sprint as well

For all Martin's mind games yesterday, it clearly hasn't had much effect as Pecco is four places ahead of him on the grid. Expect Martin to get his elbows out then.

Absolute ice in Pecco's veins.... Through Quali 1 into second on the grid with Jorge on sixth.

Brad on the second row.
