MotoGP 2023

So close yet again for Brad. KTM lacking that crucial tenth compared to the Ducati. Hope they find something in the off season.

Should be a good race tomorrow. Can't see Pecco doing anything stupid though so I'm sure he'll take a fifth place tomorrow if necessary.

I wonder if the other Ducatis would’ve been told to not challenge him…. It looked like Diggia had the pace

Teams will have to develop a new approach to the Tyre pressure management. Changing the podium after the celebrations is a disaster for the rider, team and advertisers.

What a crazy race to end the season. Congrats to Pecco on a stout and resolute defense of his title, helped in no small part by some of Martin's Sunday blunders but you need some things to go your way. He won't like the fact that he blew a 66 point lead but it just shows the fickle nature of MotoGP at the moment. You need to be at your best at all times.

Bitterly disappointed not just for Brad but for Jack. He was on course to make history by becoming the first rider to win a race on three different bike manufacturers. You could see how devastated he was with himself.

Another interesting thing that came out was the fact that this was the first season I think when there wasn't a single back to back race winner. Diggia was close to making that happen at the end of the race yesterday after his win in Qatar but he didn't risk a dive on Pecco.

Valencia test starts tomorrow I think and there will be a lot of interest as the rider merry-go-round starts. Acosta on KTM, Marquez on the Ducati (assuming he is cleared to ride after his accident yesterday). Rins on the factory Yamaha and Franco on the Pramac Ducati.

Only the name of the rider on the second Mooney VR46 bike to now be confirmed.

Diggia got a 3 seconds penalty yesterday (incorrect tire pressure), Brad finished 3rd.

How did you guys feel about the season all told?
Sprints at every race (Yay / Nay)?
Competitiveness?
Consistency of rules?

etc

Not a bad season, all things considered. From a competitive viewpoint, MotoGP needs Honda and Yamaha strong again. Hopefully those two teams discover something in the off season to bring them back into the reckoning, but I fear that, particularly for Honda now that Marquez has vacated, it is going to be another tough season. He was the heart and soul of that team and is not easily replaced. Expectations for next year will have to be managed.

Ditto for Yamaha, although I think they're in a better space than Honda. I think the M1 will suit Alex Rins' riding style and he'll settle in quickly. Yamaha has the added pressure next year of having to produce a competitive bike as Fabio has openly stated he's looking elsewhere for a ride if this doesn't happen. Their issue has been top speed so hopefully their engineers can coax some more power out of the engine in the off season.

KTM is knocking on the door, and with a tweak here and there, will be right in the mix. Hopefully they can break the Ducati hegemony next year.

Aprilia is impressive one weekend and then dismal the next so it's difficult to gauge where they currently stand. Vinales and Espargaro are proven race winners but I've often wondered if they are really the best riders to take the team forward. 2024 may be a make or break year for them in this regard.

The sprints were by and large really good, Malaysia aside, and I think will be here to stay. They add an exciting dimension to the weekend.

The rules in MotoGP are like any other sport, in that at times, the application thereof leaves one scratching one's head. You're naturally going to get a rider that feels they were hard done by for one or other reason but I think generally they were applied consistently though and the riders shouldn't have too much issue with that.

I didn't like the Sprint idea, but it kept the title fight alive until the final round. Pecco would've sealed the championship in Qatar without Sprints.

Fun fact: Martin finished more feature races (16) than Pecco (15), but when Pecco finished a feature race he only finished off the podium once.

Competitiveness was there, if you were on a Duke. Brad and KTM tried, frequently the only non-Bologna machine to crack the top 3-5 spots.

He looks super excited about the prospect, haha.
Dude is seriously quick - guess it needed his life to be on the line for us to see it. Wonder if VR46 will get updated bikes next year - With Diggia and Bez's natural pace it could get spicey
