Right, so if you've seen any of my other threads, you will know I am in the proces of buying a new car. My predicament is this:

They are offering my an interest rate of 9.9%, and then it gets registered as a 2011 model, or I get the vehicle registered as a 2012 model, with an interest rate at between 13 and 14%, making my monthly installments either R2800 or R3100 per month.

Is the newer model version worth the extra 300 bucks a month?

They are lying to you :P

They are trying to force you to buy the car now - so they get the sale.

Tell them you will accept the car as a 2012 model, and take delivery first working day in Jan - at the same interest rate, or you will take your business elsewhere.

Watch how quickly they change their tune.

yeah obviously, normally 48+ so that would mean the extra percentage outweighs the trade in value by miles! And I kinda agree with requiem... tell em to sod off... go somewhere else. Besides if the sale is concluded after the 20th of this month, they can do the registration next year, give u temporary plates!

this definitely a ploy to make you buy now imo

Yeah, stick to them, f*^cking car sales people.

Yeah don't put up with that nonsense. They are trying to get the sale on the books now before year-end.
My hubby bought his car in December last year, and our dealership actually suggested that we wait till January to register our car because then it would be a 2011 model and not a 2010 model. It made no difference to the financing or the interest rate.

They are pushing their luck with this.

Err, I bought a car in November once and they marked it as a next years model for me.

Tell them you will take the car RIGHT now at 9.9% and they can send the paper work for your 2012 model when it is ready or you will go to the next dealer down the road and get it there.

Edit: as far as I know there is 21 days to do the paperwork, and there is 19 days left in the month. Plus you still have to do all the paperwork and they have to take off the steel wheels and stick on the mags and send it in for the smash and grab and buff the factory dents out etc.. So by the time you take delivery there is plenty of time to delay the paperwork.

if you buy a 2011 now, you will also have a below average mileage when it comes to trade or sell again

either way, it depends on how long you are going to keep the car
less than 5 years id go with 2012, more than 5yrs id go with the 2011 as then 1 year either way wont make that much of a difference on a car that age.

take the the 2011, but push them for an additional discount

My guess is that this is old stock (2011) that they are trying to get it off their books. Probably a car which has been registered as a 2011 model on the Natis system already.

I would rather have the 2012 registration than low average mileage. Trade In Values always START with the year model then mileage is assessed. You may have low mileage anyway after the 4 or 5 years

Also why not go look for finance yourself instead of asking the dealer to get the finance for you? You may even get a much better rate with your own bank. That way you can shop around for the rate YOU want and order the car when YOU want it.

Thanks guys. Just some feedback.
I'll br getting my low rate with the newer registration, ie 2012. Of course, after I told them I am going elsewhere, it wasn't a problem anymore... Lol... Imbeciles...

Thanks again
