Motor vehicle collision

Don't expect to get excess back .. Sadly that's life. Most taxi people are hard to trace and the driver will disappear or claim ignorance. The owner will say he can't be held liable, no one is injured and bull bar didn't damage his vehicle so tough.

I've been driven into by a taxi in 2012, that's what happen albeit I have pictures of taxi, driver, etc.
Pretty much this. Exactly what happened to my mother in 2007.
Taxis are a law unto themselves in Africa.

The insurance company responded to me today. They said they have tried to source the parts and have decided that it's not economical to repair. They want registration documents to calculate ya settlement figure.

If anyone has been thru an experience like this:
Any advice on how to approach this?
Tx

Yes, had same issue although damage was more substantial
They will give you FAR less then you car worth and sell it at smd to recoup some cash.....

I'd say try to get another bumper, and fix it privately, you drive an older vehicle that much more reliable but thirstier
If you swap cars you'll regret it.....

Insurance just wants to buy you off, and wants the cheapest way to "settle" everything....
Your car still drivable? Take the settlement offer, but fix it privately.
If it's even possible...

If you can get them to settle you can have it fixed for much less. That's if you even want to fix it. Use what's left over for a down payment on a new one. The light would need to be fixed if you're going to use it though as it doesn't look very solid.

Wait till they make you a offer, do not give them the reg documents and say you want the claim quantum and settlement before you give them the reg documents. You can give them copies for their checking the book value etc. Once offer received you ask how much to buy the vehicle back from them if they settle. If you give the reg docs they will scrap the vehicle and you won't have what you had.
