Hoping somebody can help me out.

I've recently moved house and I need to change the address for my vehicle registration in order to receive my vehicle license renewal notification. Have been scouring the web and sent numerous emails to government departments without any luck.

If someone knows the process involved, please let me know.

Thanks

Good luck with that. I've moved house twice and three vehicles later, and they still can't seem to correct my postal address on their side, despite several e-mails, phone calls, visits and the like. I never get the notification for renewal.

Go into traffic department and complete the relevant form.

If you're in Cape Town, you can renew your disc online. Fill in your postal address, pay and they'll post it to you.

You don't need a renewal notification to renew your license though, i.e. you can just show up, fill a form (it will ask for your address) and get both your new license disc and your address updated.

You got to go to the licensing department and do it there...we just moved house too.

The service was available at the Post Office, but don't know if SAPO still support it.
Vehicle licence renewals are still done at the SAPO.

I am pretty sure you can't do a 'change of address' a the PO. You can only renew your lic there if you receive the letter from the Lic Dept.

My local post office does Full Service licensing now...

And you never needed the letter... you could go to the PO and just fill in the form anyway.

Best is to talk to someone at your Traffic Dept. The data on websites is ambiguous in most cases.

Okay thanks for the replies guys, I'll go find out if my local post office can do it and if that's unsuccessful I'll go to the traffic department.

I moved from Pta to Boksburg and had the address changed. My notice now get delivered in Boksburg but for some reason I'm not allowed to renew it at a post office in Boksburg. I've given up trying to find out why (read: the systems were down).

You need to go to your local Municipality NOT the traffic department.

I also did it at the Post Office, but it was together with a renewal. Not sure if they will do an address chnage on its own. Any post office with licence renewal facilities should be able to help you.

not that I'd EVER promote such unlawful behavior ... but note that the odds are quite high if you no longer receive renewal notices ... you also no longer receive fines ...

NB: beware the wrath of the demerit system if you contemplate this though ... thankfully not implemented in the more civil parts of ZA with the mountains and beaches ;)
