Hi guys

Ok, so I've got the bike now but I'd like some opinions from the other two-wheelers on the forum.

I've got a decent full-leather jacket but it's a tad hot in summer. I had a look at some other jackets over the weekend and now I have to choose between two. The one is an Arlen Ness leather/cordura combo with a removable inner thermal layer and the leather's perforated so there's some cooling. They refer to it as an all-weather jacket. The other is some Japanese brand but it's basically a mesh jacket with full armour, ie. a summer jacket.

Now, the Arlen Ness looks awesome and it's dual purpose but for those really hot days the mesh jacket should be cooler. What do you think?

P.S. Mesh jacket is R2200 and Arlen Ness is R3000 (they say going up to R4000 soon).

You don't say what bike you got (congrats!)!
Anyway I'd get the Arlen Ness one as it's a reputable co and good guality.
I bought a cheapish M2R jacket and it didn't last long. The studs rusted, the water proofing came loose and they laughed at me when I complained.
I always wore leather and still have 2xjackets and pants but never wear it anymore!

Ah.
Now thats a thing of beauty. Is it a Marauder? Intruder? Boulevard?
I had a marauder in the late 90's - great bike!
About the jacket - it's got to be Arlen Ness!

It's a VZR1800 (M109R) Boulevard. I must say, it's an interesting cross between a cruiser and a sport bike. It's big, heavy and unwieldy at low speed but once you get cracking it's surprisingly nimble and you're able to lean her quite low. I suppose that's because of the GSXR parts they used when building it. That engine's pretty impressive but the throttle is incredibly sensitive in 1st and 2nd.

Yeah, I think that Arlen Ness jacket's calling to me to save it from it's life of coat hanger hell. :D

Hi there, there is a Think Bike forum (maybe at www.tbforum.co.za), maybe they can give good advice too. Apologies if you already know about it.
