Hi all, I must buy a helmet, but :eek: the prices!!! I was thinking of something in the area of R300 - R400, or even lesser if it's possible. A friend bought one secondhand, for R100, and it also has that DOT thing, so it's not a bad one. Any suggestions where to look?

I dunno - imo there are some things you really dont want to do el'cheapo and a helmet just might be one of them.

Second hand ads would be your best best. Classifieds / Junk Mail etc.

I would never recommend a second hand helmet! :eek:

You don't know how many prangs it might have seen..

But hey.. it's your life you want to protect ;)

My helmet cost me around R1100.. yea it's pricey.. :eek: but I'd like to keep my brains in one piece.. ;)

Motorcycle Toystore (their ads are in the CapeAds)
They have some pretty cool helmets and good prices.
Give them a shout.

its always best to buy a new helmut and you do need to shop around for a good price and as mentioned before second hand helmuts may have hairline cracks in them that wont save you should you have an accident.

Hmm..., might be too far to drive right now... Benoni/boksburg will be better. Thanks anyway.

I want to get a new one. So feel free to PM me and you can buy my old one.

It's an AGV helmet in mint condition.

R 1500.00

I'm with Bwana on this one. Don't ever try and buy a cheap Helmet. You won't know if it any good or not till the day you really need it ;)

superbike=R100,000
helmet= "as cheap as possible"

what price brain and life?

#1= s/h helmets are no-no
#2= spend over R1000 on your headgear pls. may just be the best advice anybody has ever given you
#3= make sure the hat fits. a 58 head in a 60 helmet+accident=no protection

To know if a helmet fully fits.

Put it on and open your mouth, when you close it you should be able to bite the inside of your cheeks. Then it's a perfect fit ;)
