Motorcylclist Attitudes?

They, MC Clubs, suck donkey balls. I ride my bike as a form of transport, not as a weekend warrior.

Narrow minded there.... I ride on weekends for the enjoyment of outdoors and appreciation what my machinery can achieve. Dualsport Riders get the best of both worlds. I dont need to ride during the week, I may if I have that itch to ride, but unfortunately I can't see clients with my products while using a bike.

Never had the urge to join a club as a biker. What was lekker was the Clearwater BMW dealership had out-rides once a month on Sunday which was very well organised with sweepers (also catering for slower bikes) and support people on call in case of a breakdown. Zero tolerance to alcohol and riding. We met some nice people on those rides.

I have to say that some bikers have the same attitude as cyclists on the road, thinking that they somehow have more of a right to be there than a car.

I have cycled under the influence. Pretty sweet, just keep it off road.

You referring to the BMW Club though?

I think that's a bit different from the typical "private club" setup.

Another problem with clubs is the nonsense you have to go through in order to join.

The whole "Friend of the Club" and then "Prospect".

It's actually amazing the crap bad friends can put you through regarding Patching. When I started riding I never had the intention of joining a bike club at all.

So I guess for a lot of people the learning curve isn't present and some people seem content with following the pack and "doing what the Romans do".

For example while prospecting I insisted that I will not remove the LGBT Flag from my helmet as I am gay and that I was proud to be a biker and riding a motorcycle is as much a part of who I am as being gay is.

So I found out the hard way too that traditional bike clubs are not exactly gay friendly, so more **** you have to deal with.

After riding on my own or with one other person on weekends to no where I noticed that the speed at which I travelled dropped dramatically, I pay attention to my level of comfort while riding and also I am way more keenly aware what my bike is doing instead of trying to constantly and consistently play catch up with the Litre bikes.

So after leaving, enjoying the ride and learning became the most important factor.
