Damn...I would love a qwerty Android! Eventhough I have gotten pretty good at the touch screen on my Defy...I still would prefer a qwerty hardware keyboard I think!

Whatcha guys think? Would you like this Moto?

This seems like an interesting combination. Wonder if we'll be getting it on our shores. And if so, how much it'll be.

I most definitely would not want that.

It looks ugly! Like a blackberry but worse. :/

I see the expected release is around October 2011. Seems like a decent handset. Hardware QWERTY would be awesome. Shortage of these devices locally ATM:(

Clearly you know nothing about Blackberry, all three of the new Blackberries beat it in specs. The 9900 (which is it clearly targeting) has more RAM, faster processor, NFC, amazing wide keyboard, etc. If you're going head to head with Blackberry you have to at least offer the same specs if not better. That's why I say it has to be much cheaper than other top end phones if it's going to compete. This might all be irrelevant since it may never get released here - the first Droid Pro wasn't so the odds aren't great for the Pro+.

HTC Cha Cha
Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro
Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (not yet released anywhere but Canada)
Samsung Galaxy Y Pro B5510 (releasing sometime this year)

there's much better out there than this oversized confused mess of a phone
even Moto themselves have the much better Droid3 which should eventually make it's way down here

Auggg, if this phone costs more than R3000, I'll eat my hat.

Simply put, tall the blackberrys you mentioned are the upper tier of phones... I'm seeing that the blackberry bold Touch 9900 on gsmarena is 480EUR, while Motorola's best of the best, the atrix is 420EUR...

So again, I'm thinking this phone will cost at around the R2000 mark, maybe less?
Also, you clearly don't understand that this phone is around the same size, the moto has be bigger screen (and also same resolution), more battery life, a better operating system (hence the need for less ram... android is a little more streamlined), weighs less, and other than the cpu (which is 20% 'faster', but that itself doesn't give the 9900 a golden penis to smash the moto in the face with), the blackberry looks beaten, and I will promise that it'll be cheaper!

So what were you saying?

How do you know it has better battery life? Androids are pretty much on par with Blackberry's for battery life, (the size of the battery proves nothing). The larger screen size is a trade off for a smaller keyboard and if you're getting this phone you're obviously buying it for the keyboard. The keyboard on the Bold 9000 is the best any mobile phone has ever had and supposedly the 9900 has the same. Android really isn't any better in terms of memory management than Blackberry os, I have 512mb of ram on my Galaxy and after a year it isn't enough. The BB is is far better at multi tasking than Android, if anything Android needs more Ram than the BB OS to pull of the same level of multitasking. But as I said if it comes in at a far lower price than the 9900 then it will be an interesting option.Certainly as far as Androids with keyboards go this will clearly be the best.

You really can't compare multitasking between a BB and Android...BB has nothing to multitask with...

I would muuuuuuch rather take a Milestone/Droid 3 OR 2 heck even my Milestone 1 looks better than that! That phone looks more like a bad compromise and probably won't be so cheap.
Call me fussy, but even the name doesn't sound too grand:D

Honestly, it beats every black berry out there... so I think this would be a very viable transition from other cellphones!

Even a mid entry Defy beats every BB out there (except internal memory of the Torch)
