Hey Guys, I drive a 2007 Audi (2.0 FSi so no turbo to worry about) and the Motorplan is up end of Next month. I will be taking it in for a final service before the plan is up.

The car is still in excellent condition and drives amazingly, but Audi don't let you extend the plan even if the car hasn't done 100 000kms. Since my mileage is very low (77 000) I am content to keep the car a little while longer. The service next month will take me to Feb 2013, but I am not sure what to do from there. I could either sell the car, 1 year out of Motorplan around that time and get a BMW/Merc/Subaru etc. or I can keep driving this. (i am never buying an Audi again, their service is pathetic but since I have a running car, i am happy to motor on for a little while longer)

If I keep the car, I would really like to put a service/maintainance plan on the car. What are my options? I've looked at the Hollard Motor Xtender, and have just been sent a quote for all the cover they offer. Will be working on that as my basis, but is there anything else to compare it to? One other option would be to do nothing and just take it back to Audi in 2013 for a service, but I do expect to be smacked with a 10k+ bill from the stories I have heard and I am trying to avoid this.

Better if you renew, gives next buyer peace of mind which means more fair price for you to sell on.
Also, once the motorplan expired, it can be re-implemented so the value of the car really drops.

I have a 2004 A3 TDI - and so far haven't been shocked at the Audi prices for out-of-warranty servicing. At the moment I am due for a big service 120k service with cambelts etc. The total cost that Audi quoted me was around R4.5k - which sounds like a lot. I went shopping around to a few other places including Auto Works (AA approved place) - and their quote was almost 1000 MORE than Audi. Plus the cost of one service (even if it is around 1 or 2k - yeah I had brakes etc done last year) - is probably less than 1 month's car payment on a new car. Least that is how I help reason it to myself.

So advice is - keep car, get a quote before they do work - check if it is in the right ball park and there you go.

Hollard has some good products as well.

Mr.C, the whole point of this thread is Audi don't renew their motorplans past 5 years, all your points are very valid and I would love to renew, but unfortunately I haven't got that option.

That is quite reasonable, I can definitely afford that for services. Wonder if different Audi service centers give different quotes though, i will check that out as well when it comes to service time. I am going to dig out my old service slips and just compare what Audi would have charged me for the past services, and use that as a benchmark.

My big worry is if something big does break on the car, I am in serious trouble. I think I might just hope nothing serious goes wrong for 2-3 years and hopefully sell the car by then.

SWAMBO's A3 TDi just came out of AFP. We are keeping it that way since Audi are dof not to allow ppl to extend the AFP on time/distance like BMW does.

If something major goes wrong, we'll bite the bullet. But as long as you maintain your car, there should not be any issues.

Old thread dug up here.

But as of July 2012 it seems Audi can extend your motor plan - been hearing the ads on the radio and there was a thread on this forum about this.

Quite a few t's and c's on the audi extended plan and the costs are insane.

What kind of costs we talking about?

I would have thought the T&C's would have been the same as the normal motor plan.
