Drive - 6/10.strictly for auteur film buffs.Everyone should stay away.1980's style electro score is great though.
Black Death 6/10.gory and brutal medievel piece.
Wake Wood 5/10.Low budget in the style of Don't Look Now.
Henry:Portrait of a serial killer.8/10.Shocking and realistic.

Drive - 8/10

Not at all what I was expecting. Definitely not your average movie (which is refreshing) - there is minimum dialogue, long scenes, a lot of character silence, and its suspenseful. The characters are played superbly. I could not take my eyes off this movie the entire time. There is an 80s edge to it too and there's even a familiar scene from [-]The Godfather[/-] Scarface in it.

Not everyone will enjoy this but I recommend it.

I thought it was pretty good hey. I do enjoy these types of films over the typical releases though.

Me to but somehow the stilted, deliberate dialogue by Gosling detracted from the realism of the film.
Maybe I missed the point of this as its supposed to be some sort of philosophical piece about Hollywood crime thrillers.
What's your take on it?

I rated it 0/10 a few posts back as it sucked. It was more of a "made for tv" type of movie.

I liked the way the film allowed you to come to your own conclusions about certain scenarios, rather than dialogue telling you. I was extremely surprised at the turn of events that Goslings introverted character goes through and what he is actually capable of and willing to do. This film goes so many ways that at one point (the night beach scene) it seemed very much like a prequel to a horror/slasher film from the 80s :D. Those events made me think what was this persons deal before becoming a mechanic/driver? The way in which he ends life looks like he switches himself off and somewhat enjoys the process of murder and that he's definitely done it before.

I found the main character is very protective of his life. He is overly cautious doing the jobs and doesn't give anything away. The silence plays perfectly with the way he lives his life and he doesn't seem to trust people all that much.

The musical selection was great and many times described what was going on on film. I admit during the first bit of the film I was like speak dammit! Say something!

Red State is like that Waco shooting and that preacher man from Florida, who hates gays and Muslims, all thrown into one movie.

Good analysis.I've read somewhere that Drive is an art superhero movie with the drivers scorpion jacket and mask being his 'uniform'.
Ever since I watched it I can't get this song out of my head.:)

Hanna

Awesome film. Made by the same team who did Iron Man! And just like Iron Man there are funny bits inbetween the serious storyline, and the action sequences are pretty good.

ot: I would really like to see the next film this team does.

Fast Five (Fast and Furious 5) 5/10

Terribly lame movie saved by a bit of action and development in the end, Best part was when team America got slaughtered.
