Now that you've mentioned it yeah. That scenery around Verona in Italy was captured beautifully, picture perfect.
Some people are doing this radical new thing where they watch an entire movie before rating it. Seems like craziness to me though..

That's disappointing to hear. I think every 3 or 4 movies the Coen brothers put out a stinker. I think they just have to get it out of their system.
Tried watching The Big Short but my wife wasn't into it :/ . Will hold off the reviews till I have a chance to finish it off myself, but I liked it.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 8.5/10
Finally got around to watching this and it was highly entertaining. Oodles of craziness, as you'd expect from a Mad Max film. I found the War Boys to be incredibly interesting. Instead of mindless baddies I was actually interested in reading up on them. Why didn't it score a 9? Where were the Australians? I kept on thinking ''This role was meant for Sam Worthington''. The lack of Aussieness from the leads detracted from the authenticity, IMO.

Adjusted to reflect reality. Eric Bana, Joel Edgerton or that dude on Vikings maybe if you want an Aussie flavour...this wasn't an Australian film though.
I really don't think they were going for authenticity/realism.

It is not as if the part of Mad Max requires much acting range.
Hardy had some weird, bastardised Aussie accent during his monologue and a number of the supporting cast were Aussies - Nux, The Dag, the old birds, Rictus Erectus - so to my ears they were in Australia.

Surely the three previous films set the character. Fury Road may not be a direct sequel, but Mad Max is Mad Max, certain traits should be maintained. James Bond is James Bond.

A large number of the cast is Aussie though.
Immortan Joe (well, he's an Indian-born Englishman that has made his name in Australian films), The People Eater, The Dag, Cheedo, Slit (Nux's lancer), The Bullet Farmer, The Organic Mechanic, The Vuvalini (old birds) and as mentioned, Hardy had a weird Aussie accent going on for a bit.

Also read that back in the day British films' trailers had no one speaking in it except the trailer guy cause it would alienate US audiences.

Spotlight 4/10. A bit late but you guys lured me in with your high scores....yes....you 
Flat photography, flat scenery, flat acting and the main actor, Robbie, showing his little rodent teeth was totally devoid of gravitas. Not even a bit of eye candy lifted the movie out of it's monotony. To me this was on a par with movies made for TV and how it won an Oscar beggars belief.
OK the subject matter's shocking but if you want to see a movie about abuse and the catholic church watch The Magdalene Sisters. The Brits know how to evoke emotions.
