Hopefully they fall to their death in the first few minutes of the movie.

It's a hell of a book, but I'm not sure this is the year for such a bleak movie.

This isn't the fault of Halle, but blame can be laid at the feet of Disney as this was a deliberate decision. Now Halle will be used as a shield should the movie turn out to be bad.
Some of the comments on the official trailer elicited a few chuckles
