Moving back to SA

It's only worth a rebut if it has decent justification in the first place. If some random person calls you an idiot do you explain your education history to them or do you tell them to piss off?

Nox's comment simply assumes all people leaving the country are exactly the same and applies a rather insulting generalisation to them. Not a suitable part of an intelligent conversation if you ask me.
I'm one of those people who left the country and I felt insulted by it, hence my response.

I do understand why some would feel insulted, however that goes both ways as we are also affected by what some would say. Hey at least he shared an opinion, instead of "that's bs" (which we all know, is not an opinion without substance). :)

I didn't just come in and say "this is complete bs". You must be trying to troll me unless you are as ignorant as an ANCYL member.

I hope you were not referring to me?

I too don't get why white people whine so much about BEE and AA. White people are still working, still starting companies and still making money. White foreigners actually come to South Africa to work and to start companies because of the opportunities here.

I don't get it either.

Generally speaking, white people are more entrepreneurial than black people. AA had an unintended advantage of motivating more white people into starting businesses and thereby employing black people.

In a third world country, most white people have a relatively high standard of living here in South Africa. That standard of living has been maintained from 1948 up until now in 2012 and it will continue.

saksakgp is right, BEE is an idea that came from a white person, that white person was not from the ANC, but from the NP. You people must get it in your heads that AA and BEE are not government policies with a sole intention of spiting white people or to make white people angry or to piss them off or.............or....................or. Black people don't sit on a chair inside a squatter camp somewhere pondering ways to avenge their suffering at the hands of a white controlled Apartheid system.

Well I suppose if you want to equate yourself with the ignorant and uneducated.
The smiley was for sarcasm. The broad strokes people paint with is amazing.

So you think it's fine to discriminate against white people because they have jobs. So we can start discriminating against black people as well. They also have jobs, they still
start businesses.
In your opinion. Because 50% of a group is doing well it's oke to discriminate against a 100% of them.

You telling me that men can discriminate against women because they have boobs?

oke i see. I'll fix it.Two people goes for a job equally qualified. Boss likes boobs and chooses boobs over guy.
She will not ever receive any promotions or training, she can. Because she has had it "easier". She can not complain. She has a job and can start her own business. She has boobs. Therefore had it easier.

I'm trying to understand why he thinks it's oke for his children to be discriminated against.

So now men at work can slap her ass because she has had it "easier". She can not complain. She has a job and can start her own business. She has boobs. Therefore had it easier.

You don't seem to understand a number of things which shows in your use of such warped examples in some humorous manner considering such a serious matter. Firstly, there is no other way to compete in a 'western dominated' system for a majority now represented by government. Did you expect economic policies favouring western capitalists in an African country to stay the same after the years of Apartheid disbandment? Should domestic workers and manual labourers and mine workers and their children's children remain in that sort of class system while the beneficiaries of Apartheid continue prosper? Do you propose some other sort of economic redistribution system? Did you share your toys?

Secondly, another benefit is it eases tensions that could lead to unrest. It's as simple as that. History and all.

A large proportion of such an insensitive mindset derives from internet banter among those who are among the most comfortable in the world. A pity they just do not realise it.

My children aren't. They'll get a better education than most. They'll have plenty of opportunities and generally be better off than most of the black people in this country. And they won't whine about the unfairness of trying to rebalance things.

A western dominated system? Western capitalists? Oh look, its Stalin back from the grave.

How about a system that rewards those who are the most skilled, talented, educated and hard working, regardless of skin colour. If the statistics don't reflect their ideal numbers, government should ask themselves why they aren't creating enough skilled people of 'colour' .

If you have a stellar nationwide education system, the problems you mentioned will slowly start to dissapear. Education is the key to eradicating poverty and creating jobs, and yet the ANC idiots would rather fix the problem from the top down, creating more problems then it solves.

The aim is not to redistribute the pie, its to grow the pie, that's what you communist idiots don't understand.

I thought this was a thread about someone wanting to move back to SA. Seems to be about people and their opinions on AA and BEE etc.
Anyway seeing as how we are on that topic its very easy to see that BEE is not working. Sure its helping some people but those people didnt have problems in the first place, its just making people that had money even richer while keeping the people down that it was supposed to help. I wouldnt have a problem with it if it actually worked the way it was intended to.

After all if you have an uneducated workforce then you have a cheaper workforce, look throughout the world it happens everywhere.

That's the ideal. Only the naive though think that this is the way the world would work without something to first help break down the barriers.

They might.

There's nothing communist about affirmative action or even black economic empowerment. Doesn't prevent growing the pie either.

That's because some people tried to scare off the original poster with horror stories about punishing whites and no work for whites.

A good intentioned idea that ended up working pretty much the way capitalism usually ends up working on its own.
