Hi All

I have a client that has had the royally crap treatment from MWEB over the last couple of months.

They have had enough and want to move to a prepaid account - since they dont use a lot of bandwidth.

The problem is that MWEB now wants to charge them R50-R70 a month to maintain their email address, while they notify all their contacts about their own domain / new address.

Question is, what is a fair amount to pay MWEB or any ISP to keep their address for a couple of months?

Thanks

R50 p/m is probably pretty standard for email hosting as a stand-alone offering. I hope your client will now learn to NEVER use an ISP-specific email address unless they're signing up specifically for the email hosting [and thus paying for it seperately].

Get an ISP neutral email like Gmail with or without your own domain. If you don't like gmail, there's a ton of options out there other than locking yourself to an ISP.

I think the problem with email hosting as a stand-alone offering is the same as buying a cellphone without a contract. It's always packaged "free" with some ADSL/Web hosting deal, but the day you want to -just- get the email hosting it's not as "cheap" as one would think.

Too right mate - my client has learnt a lesson - unfortunately a bit too late.

R50 seems a bit much seeing they pay R50 / month for their domain hosting / mailboxes etc.

Regards
