Moving House - Moving ADSL

I'll be moving into my new place towards the end Jan 09 (although I already have access to the house); when is a good time to start the ball rolling with 'moving' my ADSL line? - so have the least amount of 'dead ADSL time; If I move too early I wont have ADSL at my current place and if I move too late I might be without ADSL for a while at the new place

I applied way in advance, and just specified the date I'd like the transfer for. Worked for me. I think it was a 1 day downtime.

I was on the same boat about two years ago and Telkom had the line installed within a week after moving into the new place.

Last year I moved house, literally about a km away. I phone up Telkom 30 days prior to the move and said on day x I'd like my phone/dsl moved. They did it 3 weeks after I moved!

I applied just after I moved, its been 6 months and im still waiting for a line

I would speak to whoever lives there now and have a telephone line installed, 1 week before you move have ADSL enabled then when you move in upgrade it to whatever you want and cancel your old service.

This works unless you're on contract.

What exactly did you apply for? Was it only for the new phone line or ADSL as well? thx
