I'm about to move house, and I need the Telkom phoneline and, more poignantly, the ADSL line to move with me.

I know how long Telkom take with things, so I'm wondering when I should let them know.

About how long does it usually take Telkom to move your DSL line from one residence to another? Should I expect the two months it took to get ADSL in the first place?

My parents are moving into a new house on Wednesday. They were told by Telkom you have to apply for line transfer a month in advance

Woo goody. It's almost exactly a month until I move.

Can anyone confirm this? Because I know that Telkom tell different stories to different people.

It really varies but a month is your safest bet.

im in the same boat as you. just called telkom and arranged an outdoor transfer to the new premises - also thought i'd arrange it early as I've also heard about this 30 days wait. the telkom guy said i can do a self install and that since its within the same exchange there should be no cost involved. The system he was using though said there was a R430 odd installation fee which he said should not be there as it was a self install and he would make a comment for it to be scrapped.. Oh well - we'll see if I get charged in a month or two
