Moving Recovery Partition to USB.

I am a computer noob so bear with me. I cannot upgrade to Windows 10 with my 32 GB notepad as I only have 8 GB spare after doing a factory reset and removing all bloatware. I even stopped the Hiberfile and scored 2 GB with that.
I am still short of 2 GB for the Windows 10 upgrade.
My Recovery Partition is 10 GB's .
I have Windows 8.1 and to do that, I have to move the partition as Windows 8.1 does not allow me to shrink it.
Any ideas?
 
Any disk imaging software that can save disk partition to a file.
 
Download the ISO for Windows 10, and the do the upgrade from a flash drive or SD card.
 
I do not have a CD drive to burn the ISO file onto. I downloaded the Installer from Windows and when it opened, I chose USB drive destination and it started installing Win 10 to it. My concern now is that it will install Win 10 onto the USB drive and not the C drive. That means I will keep having to boot from the slower USB drive.
I did choose "download for a different computer" though so will see.
 
Did not work but found a fix.
Dump the 32 GB tablet and buy one with a larger SSD. Simple.
 
I successfully upgraded a 16GB Nextbook tab to Win10 Home. Just make sure you have approx 13GB free on the SD card, and tell Winupdate to use the SD card. Started it before lunch, came back a few hours later and all was done. The Nextbook 8" runs happily on Win10, and has more free space than with Win8.1. I'm not enabling OneDrive.

I have a formatted 16 GB SD card and tried many times to download Win 10 to it and it accepts it every time. All files are downloaded to it but when it tries to install the files on the C drive, it rejects the download as I am short on the C drive.
I now have 9.7 GB spare on the C drive but it wants 9.95 GB but I am on bare bones and cannot delete more files.

I even downloaded it to my USB drive successfully but it cannot install to my C drive as it is still short.
In my view, you have created a miracle to have done so successfully. Your link to how you did it goes to a blank page.

Even downloading the IOS will not work if the C drive is too small. Microsoft has even stated that it cannot be done as yet.

Dude. Have the ISO. Install the files onto the USB or Flash.

Install Windows 10.

Regarding the recovery, type Recovery into the start menu and you'll get the app to move your recovery partition to the USB.
 
Windows 8.1 does not have a "start" menu. If I click on it from the RHS, it takes me back to the damn tiles.
As I stated. I am a noob with computers as I am 61 years old so need more specific help so please bear with me.
The only ISO I can find is on Windows and it cannot download due to the shortage of a few Mb's on my C drive.
I have now 10.0 GB spare and will try once more but I'm sure it will decrease in size as I go along as per usual then dump it again.

I use a 16GB memory card in my tablet, so I stored the ISO file there and when it needed the free space I pointed it to the memory card.
 
To make more space on my C drive, I went and bought a 16 GB USB flash drive and copied my recovery partition to it. When it completed, it only had the option of "Finished" and no option of "Delete Partition in C Drive". So that was a waste of money.
My 32 GB SD card accepted the IOS and successfully downloaded Win 10 Pro, but most of my drivers were yellow flagged so had to revert back as I could not update without WiFi. I have Win 8.1 Home.

The normal Win 10 Home will not download to my SD card so do you think it will work if I download it to my new USB drive as a "for other computers" thing and then install it?
Please help.
 
Worked with no problems at all. Win 10 will not accept the SD card but did accept the 16 GB USB flash. It took a few hours due to it being a USB 2.
The Recovery Partition was 10 GB on the 8.1 and now is only 500 MB. I now have loads of extra space even though Windows.old is still on the C drive. That should uninstall by it self in 10 days time.
