Moving to Gauteng

The downside of all of this is that R7k per month is A LOT of money to waste on rental ...
Sheesh, believe me I know. Then again, there is no way we'd get a 3 bedroom place in a nice area for R7k bond repayments....

Speaking of payments, are rental prices negotiable or is the advertised price the price you pay?

Negotiable.

When I rented my place out they told me to start higher than what I wanted incase - and the very first person dropped it. Though, only R500

Finally made the move on Tuesday 30 March. I rode with the movers' truck all the way (boring geez), right into the pouring rain that started at about 11:30. Parked under the overpass at Clearwater Mall until the rain subsided with 2 other bikers and a Debonairs delivery dude - good company at least, alas, no pizza in the delivery guys Vuka!

We got a nice (albeit a quite smaller) townhouse here on an extension of Radiokop. So far is is really crap here, but mainly due to the house looking like a pigsty with everything we need to still find storage space for! At least the rain helps keeping things cool during the day!

Thanks again to everyone who posted here to help with house hunting!

Fsck, if you work in jhb that should be peanuts. Salaries there are in the 40-50k+ region a month.

You'd be surprised ponder....

Majority of peoples salaries in JHB are in the R10k - R15k region...

Hell I earn more down in Durbs than any company in JHB was willing to offer me.

I'm a DBA of all things....

JHB salaries aren't as great as everyone thinks... there are some companies that pay damn good money, but overall they're not stellar.

Traffic isn't worth it... Move someplace closer...

Newtown, eish, stay safe
