I've been playing World of Warcraft on a private server for a while now but I think its time I moved on to official to get the real experience of the game.

From those of you that are on it I just wanted to find out some stuff. Should I get the EU or NA version and is it worth getting all the expansions now or should I just get the original..Work my way up to 60 and later worry about the expansions? If I do get an expansion it will only be Burning Crusade for now. I'll worry about WotLK and Cataclysm later.

Also where is the cheapest reliable source to get game cards. I'd like to order from a South African site or place. And lastly what realm are all the South African guys playing on?

Thanks in advanced

Best to get everything in one go but it's not needed.

BTgames is where I get my Gamecards, just shy of R 300 (R 297) or something like that for 60 days.

Most SA people play EU as the time difference is 1hour about at most, Paris is on SA time so appart from winter the realm times and local times are more or less the same.

Hehe, I have a old account (classic + tbc) with a lvl 70 mage and 40 druid for sale if you want :) Total of about 10K gold between those two toons as well.

Good move. Official is way cooler than private.

I'd say copy the folder from someone for a start. Then decide what class you wanna play. If it is classic only, buy only classic account. Then get TBC when you can pop into Outland, and then again get WOTLK when you can go to Northrend.

Else just buy em all if you can afford it and know upfront that you will play to 80.

Thanks for all the advice. I have a friend who's got WotLK so I can get the game files and patches from him. I think I'll just get the original for now ( Even though the blood elves are damn sexy :P) and when I've played around a bit upgrade to Burning Crusade and then later to each expansion in turn.

I have a free vanilla account you can have if you want to test it. Has only a level 60 hunter on it if I remember right. Has no gametime as I havent logged it in ages.

Upgrading to the different account types gives you access to some extra features from LvL 1 :

TBC : Draenei/Bloodelf (Access to Exodar/Silvermoon City) + Jewelcrafting
WotLK : Death Knights (Not sure what its called) + Inscription

To my best knowledge without the key upgrades these features will not be available to you. So if you are planning on going classic oldschool regarding race and proffs then a plain vanilla account is all you need up till lvl 60. From then on just upgrade when needed :)

Inscription is available to people without Wotlk though ;p
