okay, let's recap the supposed benefits of living in SA:
1) a whole 10 web based economic sites found thus far,
2) the supposed joys of 'swimming with dolphins' (of course you have to have the money and time to go do this, which eliminates around 99.4% of the population from ever doing this)
Ditto 'appreciating the apparent beauty of our geography' - you have to be making enough money to have the spare time to ride around and go 'gosh look at that'.)
3) allegedly 'great weather' (see our rising skin cancer/eye-cataract rates)
- which also allows for the social experience of cooking meat outdoors. Great if you eat meat or drink alcohol apparently.
4) supposedly pretty women. (No mention of their 'intellect', 'ability' or anything else, I notice.)
5) 'sport' (whatever that is, and whoever thinks that's important or meaningful on any genuine level beyond providing conversation for strangers to talk about something they're both interested in.)
on the negative side?
-600 deaths a day (and rising) from AID's - so I wouldn't touch those 'pretty women' without serious disinfectant and repeated medical certificates showing their status.
-around 100-120 murder deaths every day.
-1.6 million (and rising) rapes every year.
-an almost complete inability to walk around freely and safely across 99% of this country, once night falls - given the widespread social and civil disorder. Which means everyone, regardless of ethnic origin or class, locks themselves in at night, behind high walls and electric fences (if they can afford them) as well as buttons linking to armed security firms, and with a mindset which would be diagnosed as paranoia and schizophrenia in any normal country - combined with the ongoing self-delusion that they're somehow 'enjoying' their country.
What's to enjoy? The view from behind the burglar bars, across the bit of lawn, to the high wall encircling your property?
Yup. Beautiful isn't it?
