Who here hates moving. I am going to be moving soon. It is exciting stuff but hate the packing part lol

i would to but my place is actually so small. i will be going back to sharing but I have the bottom flat with my own entrance. can share cooking if I want to. I am actually going to be paying less so will be saving. I get double the space if not more than double the amount...

At a rough count I have moved house 35 times. One advantage is that you learn not to collect junk :)

I hate the packing part... and unpacking..
Total of moves for Mila = 27

I've moved 9 times so far in my whole life.

The unpacking is nice (especially if you made a list of what's in what box). It is the sorting and packing that gets to me.

As we are also thinking of moving again. I have already started sorting through all the junk and chucked it out already...will save some time later on :D

Hate moving, packing, unpacking...
Its great once you settle in to the new place though.....

I am moving just down the road. Will be accross the road from the shop and in the same road as where i work so very handy

 Wow, that's epic. Apart from no packrattishness, what other tips do you have? Will be very useful for everyone at some point.

My family moved a lot when I was younger, during the house renovation & speculation boom. I always enjoyed it & learnt some tricks to make it easier.

  1. Start packing at least a month in advance
  2. Set aside a room for the packing eg garage or empty out a bedroom/study
  3. Don't buy moving crates. Get boxes from a supermarket loading area or
  4. Keep the boxes your tv, fridge, pc, shoes etc came with
  5. Get a black koki pen & write whats in each box after you pack them
  6. Unless you're moving to another country - don't get a moving company
  7. Hire a trailer for the day or rope in friends with bakkies

anything else?
