3k a day for a car? Who was renting it to him, another comrade?

I force myself to feel anything when this kind of story comes up. I nearly got driven off the road this morning on the N3 north in JHB. Blue light escort of some really fancy E class Merc. Going to the airport in the rain. Cutting over the traffic at the Gillooley's interchange because they nearly missed the offramp. I hardly even got upset. Just swerved, stabilized and carried on driving to work.
Must admit though, they were rather well behaved compared to some that I have seen. So I cant complain too much. I was more upset by the expensive, tinted windows, private driver driven, possibly bullet proof, really expensive Merc Coupe that the official was in. I dont mind them being driven in those. Its when I know that its his on my cost that annoys me. It should be a state owned vehicle that gets used whenever people are on official business but stays with the state ultimately. Not his own personal car bought at tax payers cost.
@SoulTax, if your details are correct, then you are part responsible for "laundering" our tax money to buy these cars???![]()
The rate is fine & market related. The problem is they used the same type of package you'd use to hire a car for 1-4 days and selected the top option. Had they told the car rental place I need it for 1 month they probably would have paid half that.3k a day for a car? Who was renting it to him, another comrade?
