Mozilla experimenting with replacing Google with Bing as the default search engine in Firefox

they want to do what?!?!?!?!

I suppose MS put a very generous offer on the table for the Mozilla foundation.

You do understand that their primary source of income is Firefox web browser search partnerships and distribution deals right? If you are upset about how they get money perhaps you should donate enough so they don't have to do that.

This will also blow your mind.
 
I've been growing less enthusiastic with Firefox the last while, this might just push me to seek someone else to support..

I get they need money, but Commercial partnerships? especially with the evil Microsoft?
bad taste in my mouth from that,
and yes, you can change your search engine, but that's not the point, them ditching Google, is just wrong on so many levels.

but then again, maybe the money was extremely generous and would pay for many things desperately needed.
 
As long as I can UNDO what they do when installed, IDRGAF... allow me to change this and all is still good Mozilla...

I am sure Microsoft isn't perfect, but Google sure as hell is no angel.
 
I use yandex.com as my search engine nowadays... it's a bit biased toward the right but better than gargle and kuk-kuk go by far.
 
That is idiotic. Rather make it Duckduckgo. Mind you, I didn't read the article and why they want to do that, replacing one monster with another.... That said. Maybe they busy dying.

agreed, but then again, from our Tech overlords, Id rather trust Google than Microsoft or Apple or any other.
now if Mozilla were smart, they simply make their own search engine, call it "searchy" or something, and make that the default.
and STILL let you pick who you want to use afterwards, rather than make it some arbitrary choice.
 
Been using Mozilla some decades ago. Did not even know they still existed. Thought they already went the route of the dinosaur. Well, good luck to them. Bing is a shi**y search engine.

Default search engine, can be changed... ;)
 
As a long time (15+years) exclusive Firefox user and monthly donator - I'm not mad about this.

Bing isnt a great text search engine; but damn - I find image search on Bing tends to get much "artsier" results than anywhere else especially google, and for my purposes I appreaciate that.

You can just change the default text search engine to ddg, searx or qwant depending on your needs anyway
