Mozilla Firefox 6 available unofficially

is it going to be as exciting and earth shattering as the release of version 5?

Mozilla have uploaded a build of Firefox 6 to their FTP server but have said that it isn’t the final version.
No? Then what is it? Nightly build? Beta?

Or final build just not officially released?

i used to be a die hard firefox fan.... now chrome has taken me :)

FF still wins with lots of tabs open. That separating tabs into separate processes kills chrome after 50 or so tabs.

If it weren't for their ad blocking approach I'd switch too though despite the many tabs issue.

50 tabs? i try to keep it to 20 tbh.... either way if you have a decent system a huge amount of tabs should not be an issue for chrome, my biggest gripe

with chrome is the unstable flash plugin, otherwise i have no issues, still use firefox on most of my machines but for everyday recreational browsing i use

chrome.... still love my add ons for firefox though

*Sigh* probably another half baked Chrome wannabe, I miss when Firefox was firefox :(

I've recently switched to chrome and I must say I love the snappiness of it. FF used to have random freezes all the time, supposedly an unresolved problem since version 2 to do with ntlm proxy authentication. Chrome certainly has its pitfalls. The unstable flash plugin is probably the most annoying, followed by not being able to go back to the same position on a page, not being able to natively view an open image in a tab as well as not having a mail add-on with imap support.

My only problem with chrome is that it doesn't import my bookmarks/passwords/history etc from Fx 4.0. It says that it is supported, but I have been unable to find a solution. Seems quite a few others have the same problem. I'll switch when chrome fixes it.

1. Export your bookmarks in FF as html.
2. Import the html in Chrome.
3. ???
4. Profit.

I havnt switched to Chrome because my FF is quick enough. I never have to wait for anything. So considering speed is Chromes sales pitch, to me it just seems pointless when speed on FF is not an issue. Its not like we play BF3 in our browsers.

Your statement is definitely not true!

I used to be a huge Facebook gamer & had more than 80 tabs open in the first versions of Chrome when playing war games on Facebook. My hardware spec was a dual-core Asus notebook with 2GB RAM and Vista Professional. :)

We actually had a FB group with more than 100 gamers & all agreed that Chrome was your weapon of choice for online games, the others simply crashed, or were too slow, when you had to do things very quickly.

The hardest was to convert all the Firefox die-hards with their nagging add-ons, but in the end they were the ones getting lyrical about Chrome. :D

And that's where my love for Google Chrome actually started.

I use the addon Xmarks. It can sync everything. There is an addon for all browsers, so you just need to enter your details and it sync's online. It really does rock. I never loose my bookmark between format's anymore because I am too forgetful to backup everything. :P

So u guys post an article to let us know that the final release was uploaded 5 days before the release date. Wow great news -.-

MyBB articles just going downhill.

This news was posted on various well-known international tech sites, and to many it is interesting news. Its called TECH NEWS, and the article seems to fit in.

Also, people mention having 50+ tabs open. What exactly are you doing that would require you to have that many slides open? I can understand 10-15 maybe even 20. But 50?

In all honesty, you don't know speed until you've tried Chrome. I can't believe I said that. I was an FF fanboy all the way until I tried Chrome. FF is still a fantastic browser though, but I shan't hate on Chrome any more.
