Mozilla Firefox 6 available unofficially

Where do you get hold of FF8 ? I thought the article is about 6 just being released ? :wtf:

Uhh this news is from six months ago dude. Someone just revived the thread. FF8 is the s**t!

In all honesty, you don't know speed until you've tried Chrome. I can't believe I said that. I was an FF fanboy all the way until I tried Chrome. FF is still a fantastic browser though, but I shan't hate on Chrome any more.
donno what you talking about, the only way I find chrome is faster is in startup

So why would myBB write an article about version 6 if version 8 is already available ?
Because the source code has been released ? What happened to version 7, or does FF release a new version every second month ?

I'm waiting for FF7, with its decreased memory consumption, FF8 is already available: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/

Because v7 and v8 are still alpha quality, whereas v6 should be release-quality soon.

The article and the thread was posted yesterday. Somebody never learned how to read dates! :p

Well FF as painfully slow start up, even on my notebook and beast of a desktop. FF also randomly freezes on me as I mentioned earlier in the thread due to a bug with handling ntlm-auth proxies.

FF still wins with lots of tabs open.

FF is still my primary web browser, but I find when visit those *ahem* gallery websites, Opera is a winner, the other web browsers are a little keen to time-out before the gallery has finished loading with all its thumbnails. Tried them all with IE being the worst culprit with regard to timing out.

What exactly are you doing that would require you to have that many slides open?

It starts out by visiting one site, they give links to other stuff worth reading, so you think, ok, open in the background, will read that just now, and so it carries on. You can easy end up with so many open tabs. And then I like FF cause I can shut it down, and open it again with all those tabs again without having to bookmark them unless its a site I want to visit frequently. I presume other browsers can do it to, but that's not the point.

Chrome was good but what irritated me was I could not move the temp folder location to my secondary drive. Primary is a SSD and did not want to do too many writes. So had to uninstall Chrome.
Another was the random Flash plugin crashes on Chrome.

I use the addon Xmarks. It can sync everything. There is an addon for all browsers, so you just need to enter your details and it sync's online. It really does rock. I never loose my bookmark between format's anymore because I am too forgetful to backup everything. :P

+1000 internets to you sir :p

If this works I'll switch.

It's an early Alpha build... you can install it if you like watching your PC reboot all the time.

great! here come the incessant update popups...

My only issue with FF6 is that I now have 3 extensions that don't work...startup time and overall browser speed has been greatly improved though...especially startup time - it's noticably quicker...did I mention that startup time has been reduced :D
