Is anyone else experiencing constant hanging, crashing, delayed responsiveness, app incompatibility and so on that seems to pervade Firefox recently? I'm getting pretty sick of it myself. Moving to Chrome till they sort out their act.

Natch....

Same here. The hanging really gets to me. Takes about 20 seconds to sort itself out.
Mine upgraded to FF3.5.7 yesterday. Maybe it was sorted out with the update.

using an older, but stable version of firefox

why the need to have the "latest and greatest" update? the old one works fine!

How many plugins do you have installed?
FF 3.6 works nicely.

I love my plugins - otherwise I may as well use chrome because it is faster.

Mine is working fine. Don't have many addons though

Only 5 add-ons on my FF.

@ Keeper. I have never bothered to disable automatic updates, thus it upgrades itself.
I'm thinking it might be something else on the PC slowing it down because my Win 7 Laptop with latest FF doesn't hang as much. Very rarely actually.

running version 3.0.17

afaik it has updated itself but does not go to 3.5 for some reason

I also skip all plug-in updates - they all work fine as well and does what I need to do. :o

I get that freezing problem on certain pages, highly annoying. Going to try the beta see if it fixes it.

It just seems to be getting worse and worse. Whereas Chrome is always slick and fast. Getting more impressed with Chrome tbh.

I cannot use anything but firefox, i am so used to the tabbing system and the other just F it up.

The beta is running like a bomb and super fast.

I am a big fan of Chrome but only use it at home on the laptop. Think more people are switching now since AdThwart is available.
When they bring out the one or two add-ons I really need/want/cant live without, I might consider switching completely. But with more add-ons and plug-ins it might lose some of the speed.

It is most likely an addon that is causing your problem - or a plugin - like flash.

i've been using 3.7 minefield for about 2 months now with no prob. as with any earlier version. in fact, i think 3.6 and 3.7 have an improved js engine, so they seem faster than ff 3.5.

i've also been using weave instead of xmarks for about 3 months and it's really great.
