We have 3 xp pc's on the network and would like to share the inbox of the "main" pc's.
Can this be done using Mozilla Thundebird?
I was thinking of having the main pc download the email via pop to the main inbox, and then setting up new imap accounts for the other 2 pc's. Is this the correct method? I only need to view the emails on the main pc.
Anybody had any success with sharing inbox's? What methods can be used?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks :)

SHARING INBOXS?

dont think you can do that

unless you import data onto the machines the whole time

why share it if you only need to view on the main machine?

It's for a sales email address,
one of the typical uses would be that the Main user would need to process the orders/emails.
The second might need to refer to it,
and third is there to check that everything goes according to the email, just keeping a watchful eye on proceeds so there are no errors.

Can't one share the email folder or "subscribe" to it via imap? I Thought this might be solution.

Not sure if it would work and it might lead to data corruption, but you could try pointing all the different installations to one profile stored on a network drive. As I said though, might cause problems so be careful.

k, I'll have to do some tinkering afterhours then. (Read: fix'in what ain't broke. )
Been doing some googling and haven't found anything concrete either.
Maybe the worst case scenario is pointing all the users to use IMAP?

im not sure dude

but i highly doubt it

Don't think it'll work too well either but might be worth a try with non-critical data if he gets desperate. Biggest problem would probably be the different programs accessing the same profile simultaneously.

cant you create a rule that will auto forward all emails to sales to the other two people?

dunno if that will meet your needs though

Sarakael, could do that, but the idea is not to have duplicate emails and attachments clogging up others users.

All PC's can connect to the same mailbox. Just change the setting that specify that the mail should not be downloaded to the machine. So the mail will stay in the mailbox, and everybody can see it.

If the mailbox is at an ISP, and you want to save of bandwidth, you might want to consider setting up a local mail server to download that mail.
