why does this come standard on cars?

why do car companies still use old cd kuk

i had to spend 500 bucks to custom fit my mp3 player with usb stick function

why would this not come standard?

6-12 cd players are so freakin old

Most of car makers have not cach up with mp3 players yet and you worry about usb port :D
You can get cheap make mp3 player with usb port for around r800.
But its looks realy ugly with new model cars,

There is a better and compact module, where the the gadget goes into the cigarette lighter thing and works awesome ! You store the Mp3's via USB

no frank the guys who put my sound in put the radio

they had to move this whole big radio which was only a cd player!!!!!!

nabs i have a usb stick mp3 player, i just cannot understand why car makers using old technology

cd players are dead, surely it would be cheaper to buy new technology

when mp3 players first came out they where like 6k
now you get them for 600-800

i think its time cars companies moved into the future and stopped this cd player kuk

i would rather have my ugly looking radio with my 8 gb usb stick than a 12 cd changer that looks pretty

Because most of the market DON'T want a MP3 player without support for CD's. Not everyone wants to rip music and whatnot and stick it on a drive in order to listen to it, a lot of people just want to go to Musica, buy an album, pop it in the cd-shuttle, and off they go. It would be stupid of car companies to not have looked at the statistics on viability of a new technology and how it would be embraced, so I'm sure they have and they just found that it's not right for their customers yet.

i can stick a music cd mp3 cd and a usb stick in my radio, where is the problem?

surely they could make a mp3 player 12 cd shuttle? so you can put in music cd's or mp3 cd's

Um, you can get front loaders with USB for less than R1k.

*edit*

Okay, I'm guessing you're talking about factory-fitted head units.

sh0t does this, but he has a small flash drive so we listen to a few limited tracks... but it works great!

CafeJava in Claremont CPT sell these things for like, R150 (±)

i would imagine the costs cannot be that much more considering the amount of cars these companies produce

atleast give the person spending their hard earned money a choice or a charge slightly more for the car

i mean it cost me 500 for the custom unit + 800 for radio with usb + 250 installation to change my radio

thats 1.6k basically

Can you maybe tell more, like what they name this, and if it play via the cars speakers and so on?

I think before all of that, it would be great if factory fitted unit had RCA's for amplifiers so one doesn't need line out converters ...
