So long story short friend installed solar - its a Deye system, worked great in Summer in winter he was hit with bizzare shadding took the daily production from 38kw to less than 24kw.

He asked me if I did any firmware updates I have a sunsynk and I said not recently and he said would it improve it I said unlikely.

He proceeded to do the Deye update select MPPT scanning today he had his second highest production day ALL YEAR.

Thats an almost 30-50% increase.

I am absolutely blown away, anyone else try this? Apparently the new firmware is optimised well, the prior one saw minimal improvements.

I have a sunsynk so I assume I can get this too. I do suffer from some early morning shading so wonder if anyone else gave this a shot. Contacting installer Monday to do mine.

I recently got a 12kw Deye and the production sucks balls. I will definitely give this a try, even though I had my Sunsynk bricked once due to a firmware update.

As I said blown away was an understatement.

This was one hour before day end which ended 36kw but look at that difference

Just remember to select the mppt scanning option under advanced when you do the update. As I said it seems to be the later update not the earlier ones that is optimised this well

His consumption was also a lot higher if I look at that graph. Did he decide to use more power because of the increased production?

Yeah he usually is topped up midday but pushed it to the max to see.

When I mean massive improvements I mean he went from 500w to 2kw at the exact same time in the morning. Just so we comparing apples with apples.

Cool. I had a look, I have this option available.

Enabled it and now the inverter is in a fault state. Will take a look later and see what's up.

Yeah it temporarily goes into fault state for a minute or so then pops back to normal you may just need a reset quickly.

Just remember it appears to be the latest update that has the insane improvement the prior ones were 10% ish

Cool, I will reach out to my installer as I guess this is not something I can do myself? I assume they can probably push it down remotely?

Correct I believe they request it etc. I have read comments that said don't have any load etc so just be ready to turnoff etc

From where can one request the FW update for a DEYE? I know how to do it for a Sunsynk.
Please don't tell me my installer. As I sourced everything myself and had a guy do the work. He won't know fsckall about updates.

Also yes. My 8kw Sunsynk blew its board because there was a load when they pushed the update. So, try and make sure there is no load.

Yeah thanks again for the warning here saw your post on powerforum about that.

Will get details my friend's installer wanted R1k to do the update so he just requested it himself sunsynk wont let you do that unless you have the sunsynk logger tried last night they said contact installer

Solar Europe Importers has a Whatsapp Community with loads of Support groups one which is Sunsynk Tech Support.
They have Sunsynk Support people on there that you can request an update from if you have the serial number of the logger/inverter.
So if you can join it and put the inverter into bypass you should be able to request the update yourself. They usually take between 5 and 30mins if you request is done in business hours from what I've seen.

Here is the link to join the group, just found it again.

I need to check this out... I've got a Deye 5kw jobbie.

Interesting. I have a 5kw Sunsynk inverter and I see I have an option to activate MPPT multi point scanning under advanced settings.

My current firmware version is M 3.3.8.7 / S 1.5.1.5 / C E.4.3.D .

Should I enable MPPT scanning?

I had no discernible difference in my production after enabling it.
