MPs butt heads over electronic tagging

The DA and ANC are on opposing ends of a proposed electronic tagging system to curb MP absenteeism.

Did we read the same article? The DA is saying its just another waste of money. My company doesn't have a tagging system for us and we managed to do just fine.

If you follow the course of the argument, it is the ANC MPs who seem to be the problem, the DA has a very good track record with MPs pitching when they must, so forcing all MPs across all parties to be tagged just because they cannot control their own ANC MPs is unacceptable. The party that is lacking in this regard should be held responsible, and R500 000 would not fix this issue. Integrity and duty is sorely lacking in the ANC ranks.

DA is still being lame as this is a system that applies to all parties. They are quick to bitch about other MPs not pitching up and when a solution is offered, they bitch about the solution.

Never understand why people are afraid to criticise the DA, they are anything but perfect and even though I'm an active member of my DA ward, I don't agree with them 100%.

I disagree with DA (and yes I am a DA supporter). Put the system in, then there will be absolute proof on attendance. Companies do it all over, treat MP's the same, they are not special.

Nothing wrong with the time attendance system and it would do our system great. This will also add automation (absent/present) to the minutes, thus reporting and actions can be taken accordingly knowing that the attendees understand the process. People sleeping within these meetings and discussion will have no more excuse either…

Fortunately the heads are so empty in the majority of cases that head butting will cause no injuries ... only much noise (like hitting empty coffee cans).
