Hi , I'm thinking of joining openweb for the local only packages so that my friend + myself can share an account/s , e.g. 30 gb accounts.

However I need some questions answered if possible... He has the router/the line I connect to him via wifi and we share his saix telkom acc which runs off pppoe mode. Can we run a second account via pppoe and can I switch between the accounts from my side bearing in mind I am connected via wireless.

Thanks

Hey Bro

Sure. If you set your router in Bridge Mode, you will be able to switch between the accounts.

If you would like further questions answered, kindly email [email protected]

Kind regards

Hmmm

Yeah my prob is im on via the wireless, I have full router access if needed but can i run 2 accs via pppoe and choose which acc the wireless ap uses?

Bridge mode requires me to dial up via a windows dialer right? would half bridge allow for pppoe + dial up? Just wondering how to share 2 accounts over wireless without having to disconnect the one all the time.

Thanks

Hmm, seems to me that you actually need a wireless router ... the router will then set up the account (2nd pppoe connection) and you connect to the wireless router. I might be wrong though

Hmmmm

Well I have a linksys wrt54g lying around if that would help, but basically i need to know how to share 2x adsl accounts over wifi as both line/router is at friends house and we want to share an extra local only account, how could I share both these accs without having to keep changing router settings.

J

Best thing is to set the router to bridge mode, then download and install routesentry wich will allow u to run both accounts at the same time, local trafic through one and international through the other.

Yes, but how do you share a dual connection like that seemlessly over a network?

Sure - being wireless shouldn't make any difference - I do this all the time at home.

I have one account running on the router (a SMC7904BRA) while my missus, myself, my xbox, my neighbour, my other neighbour and his xbox, all routinely use our own pppoe connections.

mmmh, the neigbourhood ISP ;)

:D

I still need help figuring out how to share dual accounts over wifi. I have a telkom router/1 line/2 isps. Need to share these accounts over wifi, atm login/pass stored on router and router handles connection, I connect via wifi and use router, can I force the router to allow me to chose which isp I would like to use or must I run the router in bridge mode where I make windows dialup connections , this I dont really want to do.

Please help

You can login to the router and change the account that its useing at any time but its much easyer just to set it to bridge and then use Routesentry, I honestly dont know what I would do without it!

You could setup the router to connect to one account, say the local only. So by default, the pcs connected to the router use the local account.

Then you setup dialup connections on each pc for the saix account. When you connect this account, it will be active one in use. When you disconnect it, the pc falls back to using the local account through the router.

You will need to setup the router in half bridge (pppoe relay on some routers i think) for this to work though.

As mentioned already, it is a lot easier just to setup routesentry on both PCs each with both dialups created and putting the router in bridge mode.

Thanks

Thanks Turbo, I have one of those free telkom wifi pieces of bleep, how do I setup half bridge on this? Thanks

Sorry, i think i made a mistake by calling it half bridge.

I know my modem is similar to the old marconi ones telkom used to give.. but im not sure about the one you have.

To set mine to pppoe relay, you just go to WAN (under Configuration) and theres a dropdown list next to "Bridge" which you set to enable.

This enables bridge more while leaving the routers pppoe connection enabled.

Note that not all routers can do this. Mine's an old mecer and I know some Billions can.

Hope you come right.

EDIT: Just saw your other thread. Your router has the same web interface as mine to you just change Bridge to Enabled in the screen you posted a screen shot of.
Also, Im not sure if routesentry can be setup to go "direct" on one route and through the dialup on the other route. I havent tried it tho.. guess its worth playing around with
