I've got around 20 files in .wks and .wdb that I need to export data from, I know they're MS Works files. Any ideas without MS Works how to do this, there appears to be an online conversion tool. Any other way?

Why has M$ made this product so standalone and incompatible?

From what I read, MS Word is supposed to open this file up easily, but it never did so for me when some staff at my old job brought these files in. After pulling my hair out, I told them to go back to Works and resave it as DOC files.

AFAIK, Microsoft dropped these formats and the latest Works saves to DOC by default.
