Don't lose hope, our town is one that is large enough for eg CellC to have had their 60GB promo to sell but alas we still don't have any of those speeds. We did however have our exchanges upgraded a few months ago to 10MB. It was a surprise to me as i try to follow developments in my area closely. You will get it as La Lucia is not an unknown place to many. You can take my word on that or i will eat my mybb cap :p.

No boxes at the bottom
There are 2 UMCs in blair athol road one half way and one at the the beginning of the road near the malls and offices

MickeyD, from now on I shall refer to you as the oracle - no more than five days later my DSLAM got upgraded to ADSL2+! Syncing nicely at 8mb even though I am 3km away from the exchange. I assume that we are on metro ethernet now (another local DSLAM was recently upgraded, so we probably peer off that).

Props! It's a pity uncapped 10mb is so expensive, but I can play around with my free 1GB until then... :D At the very least it means we are ready for the MSAN box.

So your line stats improved Jack? After my 7 day Internet blackout I was also connected via ADSL2+ but with worse stats...I'm just giving Telkom until the end of this month then it seems it's Amobia ftw.

My attenuation has gone up, but only by 5. Noise margins are surprisingly good considering the 3 kilometre distance. There is always a tradeoff in stats when your speed increases, but I appear to have done better than expected (I would have thought 6mb tops).

You are in Tokai, right? My friends on Zwaanswyk road are currently on ADSL2+ with fantastic stats - they connect to the DSLAM near the roundabout at the shopping centre with Tribeca (I assume you are on this, too). I would hazard a guess they are about 1.8km away from it. Do you have any idea about distance? If not, post your stats.

I was wondering when they would upgrade my DSLAM (Constantia 021 794 xxxx) because they did yours, too (seeing as they are so close). Didn't take too long... only about 2 weeks.

On another note - does anyone know if 10mb would be pushing it?

You can pick up that phone right now and dial 10210! Ask to upgrade ur sync profile to 10mb! U can easily handle it!
 
When do you think they will switch Lonehill on? My internet is really crap! As I have asked b4, one near crawford? la gratitude?

I'm in the Reddam vicinity. Currently connected to the Steenberg exchange 8+km away :(
 
Just a quick update, the Telkom guys are saying the 20Mb/40Mb upgrades and trials have been pushed back until September...

That is not entirely true some of the MSANs are live .
Not sure which ones though.
And they are not just installing them on the road some are in the exchanges to.
