MSI H61M-P23 (B3) Motherboard Problems

Hi Everybody

Last year I got MSI H61M-P23 motherboard, and has been giving me problems ever since. I have two main problems:

Problem #1
The PC won't go into the bios setup, it will start up, show my geforce's specs, go into the logo screen, and if you press del, it reboots.

Problem #2
Whenever there is a usb stick in the usb, the pc, won't boot into windows, it will just show a small dos like line, blinking.

More info: The PC gives one short beep upon start up.

Does anybody have any experience with these motherboards or know how to fix the problems?

If you cannot go into BIOS setup, you are basically stuffed

Have you tried resetting the BIOS (there are usually 2 pins you have to bridge)? You might also take out the battery while you are doing so. Keep the pins bridged for 10 seconds

I think the mb is trying to boot into the USB drive. I have used several of the H61 boards and not had a problem. If the above does not fix it, take it back for a swap out. Why did you wait so long?

I have built four Pc's thus far with that motherboard and have had no problems what so ever, try to boot into your windows and download MSI Live Update and make it download the latest BIOS and update it for you.

Otherwise I think you are simply not pressing DEL quick enough to get into the BIOS, there is a very short windows where it gives you a chance to go into the BIOS.

The USB problem I think is related to the Boot List in the BIOS, disable every device and select the first boot device as the hard drive, Seagate hard drives usually start with ST in the model and Western Digital hard drives usually start with WD. Then disable the Boot from other device option also.

Two separate issues, possibly linked to BIOS or BIOS corrupttion (reading errors). If reflashing (even the same version), then reseting CMOS as described above doesn't help, then:
Ad1. Not really suggestion, but it could be wrong setting in the BIOS settings, forced clock settings on the mobo or on the graphics card itself. What happens, it traps either when control is passed from the motherboard BIOS to the graphics BIOS on the Geforce card and card fails to initialize correctly, or immediately after returning control to the main BIOS. Did you tweak graphics card? Revert all to defaults. Reflash grahics card BIOS too.
Ad2. +1 to boot from USB option.
