MSN live messenger

I am having problems with signing into MSN live messenger, I could sign up normally on dial up but since I got the adsl line I have been unable to sign in, it gives me an error code 81000306 and informs me that I must check my internet connection, but I am connected to the internet. My ISP is telkom and I am using the d-link 2500u router, I have no clue on where to start! Can anyone help!!!

Can you connect using Meebo or ebuddy?

Can you connect using Trillian or Pidgin?

Do you have the very latest version of Live Messenger? 8.5.1302.1018?

If you are able to browse its more than likely msn network. Keep trying.

Sounds like an ill-configured proxy setting in MSN messenger

As flashsa says - check your proxy settings within Internet Explorer. Also check that Internet Explorer is not set to 'Work Offline'.

How about upgrading your program to the latest version ?
Usually the later the program, the less nonsense it will have.
