MTI CEO goes missing as clients struggle to withdraw funds

The management and leaders of Mirror Trading International (MTI) have issued a statement to members saying that they have lost contact with the company's CEO, Johann Steynberg, and that they are uncertain about the status of the scheme's funds.

"We as management and leaders do not know if our bitcoin is safe," MTI stated.

According to the statement, MTI has struggled to obtain bitcoin from its broker with which to pay members' withdrawals.

Blah blah blah they all in this together. blaming one guy who if u ask me is not even the mastermind behind this is just old tactics they have used before.

For what its worth, I have sympathy for those who have now lost their money. Whether they knew or didnt, understood or didnt, or simply took a chance.

Ja Boet (not aimed at you @Hanno Labuschagne )
A likely story.
This was planned all along.
Thieves.

I wasn't expecting this crude finish tho. Like literally just taking the money and running? Dunno. Seems like there's 100 ways to do this without becoming instantly wanted. Weird.

Why would someone have sympathy for greed? These schemes have been going for years and it only takes one google search to realize its a scam.

Yeah it was a touch lame. When the charges were laid he realised he had to run like a chicken.

This is why I have no respect for MyBB reporting. Besides the paid for aricles/advertisements, then there is this crap. It was a fcking Ponzi scheme and the boss has run away. Call it for what it is.
This is an extremely bad take.

As a reminder: It was MyBroadband that reported, in detail, on AnonymousZA's "MTI Leaks":

The consequences for a media organisation throwing around words like "ponzi", "fraud", or even "pyramid scheme" without an actual court ruling stating that something is a Ponzi scheme or fraudulent can be severe.

It's all fine and well to demand that we use certain words in our reporting, but it's MyBroadband and, to a lesser extent, me personally who are in the firing line.

To be practical for a moment: Would you be willing to contribute R10k or so to the "MyBroadband spades and shovels fund"? If I can stash away a cool million so I can pay the lawyers when the need arises, then I might be more willing to risk calling a spade a bloody shovel.

So no real journalistic investigation then? Afraid of possible consequences? Just restating the lies that are continuing to be published by MTI? There is a thread (2nd one I think) on this very forum with almost 500 pages on. Sifting through it will find lots of pretty concrete evidence you couldve put to MTI??

Although the head of the FSCA did call it a Ponzi on RSG last week

"MTI also stated that Johann Steynberg is currently in Brazil, and that he bought a return ticket to São Paulo via Doha with his return flight scheduled for 22 December 2020."

There is more chance of COVID-19 boarding that flight on the 22nd than Steynberg...

What does investigation have to do with untested claims and accusations? You do know how the legal system works in most democracies, right?
