Hi guys, used a vodacom sim in my phone, bam, worked fine, now using an MTN 3g sim, it freezes at login and then gives the cant connect error, though im able to use port 80 just fine..

any MTN users here care to supply some info? :)

Thanks.

I have mtn and i also get some weird errors (not sure if they are the one you are talking about). when they pop up at login i just switch cable that connects my modem to the pc - i received 2 when i bought the modem.

I play on MTN 100% of the time with little to no problems.

I know that on Sunday evening I had packet loss for a few minutes which cause my connection to hang with no through put. I rebooted the phone and everything was 100% after the reboot again.

Ya I got it to work again thanks guys, what I did was merge my 2 wow accounts with my starcraft registered Bnet account... weird i know, but with my bnet login now it works fine..

another thing, what sort of latency are you guys getting with MTN? I must say, even at 700-800 ms, im still impressed, very playable, think im going to stick to MTN rather than go through the huge shlep of dealing with Telkom.

Im budgeting a 2 gig data bundle for wow, do you guys think that would be enough? I dont really browse and I also work in the week.

Thanks in advance.

I run on Full 3.5G and run just under 600 ms. Sometimes as good as 250 - 350. But mostly around 500 - 600.

Hey Pitbull, nice figures, ja im def going to stick with MTN, what sort of playtime/cap usage do you do per month if you dont mind me asking.

I don't check or record my usage :o

I can if you need me too. I don't pay for my usage but I hardly use it for anything other than WoW and browsing from time to time.

Yes I would appreciate that! Try and time it across a weekend of lekker jolling :)

Thanks again.

PS: just for kicks i installed the web browser Lynx, lol, its text-only and used about half a MB per hour of intense browsing :)

Cool, I'll run it as from today till sunday and record the total usage on here every evening before I switch off.

I've tried MTN 3G for the first time ever (via my N82) and I was highly surprised at how awesome the experience was. For a wireless internet connection that was really good. Low latency, fast downloads. Just wow, and this was during peak hours in the day.

lol, I thought about this thread about 5 minutes before I switched off but forgot about it :o. I'll try again tonight ...

I hear you man, the convenience of actually being able to play WOW via cell phone... didnt expect that from SA!

Someone needs to take a notebook to the kalahari and take a pic of him playing wow!
