MTN 3g

yuo know i've been with vodacom so long that i had no idea how limited MTN's 3G coverage..

got my GF an N70 over the weekend and stuck her MTN sim in the phone and what do you know, MTN says they dont have 3G cover in most areas and will only have that sorted sometime after dec...


are they really that far behind???

Far behind is not the right wording.

They are rediculously far behind.

When Voda launched 3G they said their strategy was wide EDGE coverage first, then 3G. Did they at least stick to the EDGE rollout? Use Vodacom for data so never noticed myself.

Yip, I must say. MTN's EDGE coverage is excellent. Much better than Vodacom's, but MTN must start doing something about their 3G/HSDPA coverage.

EDGE is easier to implement I think. Think they got caught napping by Voda's fast rollout and its always hard to play catchup. Doesn't seem like they have the same number of data subscribers as Voda does to fund it either.
