MTN and e.TV SMS competitions probed

I wonder if they stopped all these competition SMS's and sales calls for free contrast if that would improve the network reliability ?
 
MTN's prfit for the first half of 2009 was R6.24 billion and the company islooking at gaining another 22million subscribers this year. With all that money, you would think they could take 2 or 3 million and give it back to the consumers who make them so profitable. But no, instead they have to make a profit on a comeptition that is meant as a thank you for 15 years of support.

Ye i agree with you. Like DSTV, they draw a customer from their database say once a week for 15 weeks and they win the car or whatever. 15 winners < their profit

As for those people complaining they ran up heavy bills of 50K+... stop complaining cos all your are, is a moron/idiot and any other defamatory words which apply. Get a life and stop sending like 5000sms's/month.


Im quite curious what will happen to brainbox, because I'm almost sure that show is rigged... the amount of idiots that "get through" is unbelievable

I'm rather enjoying all these comments, and some rather uneducated opinions too - think there are some ANC politicians on this forum.

The problem with a R500mill fine is it will kill off little companies, might make them more detailed with handling their admin and make sure they dont break any of the rules but its worth it just to scare them of.

Or better yet just get stricter on offshore companies!! Because they really dont care much for the SPs or the customers!!
Also all projections for content services and these game things are on a decline and by 2012 they will not even be worth using. So I think the current guys are milking it.
Well done to ICASA for investigating, hope they get rid of these guys or impose very strict buy ins!!

I watch and play Brainbox and Game time whenever im watching. In a half hour time slot, they take 2 calls only and sometime only 25 minutes into the show!!!!

It would appear as though they are waiting for the revenue to mount up before they set the winning amount. Highly illegal if you can prove it.
